Abstract
In a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) apparatus for use in medical diagnosis, an inhomogeneous magnetic field is provided by for example solenoid magnet 1 with a supra-conductor and this field is continuously modified mechanically for example by a rotatable ferromagnetic member 2 everywhere except on sampling line 4. On this line a constant field strength of a given intensity, usable for NMR diagnosis, is present within a small locally circumscribed region, which is arranged to be accurately pinpointable. A transmitter of high- frequency electromagnetic, a receiver for the NMR signal emitted by the object on the sampling line and means for processing and analysing the signal are also provided. <IMAGE>
