Abstract

The invention relates to slot wedges coming into contact with iron arranged to be laid in the winding slots of electrical machines. The invention is characterised in that the slot wedges comprise a fibreglass core impregnated with a thermosetting plastic and covered on at least two sides by an outer layer in the form of a mat of aromatic polyamide fibre impregnated with a thermosetting plastic. By this means slot wedges are obtained which are strong, able to prevent lead displacement and lead vibration and to resist shearing stresses, shrinkage and bending, caused by pressure from the leads that are wedged tight, and heat, and provide a surface coming into contact with iron that has considerable flexibility and the ability to slide, which surface can be compressed (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
