Abstract

A moistening apparatus for a rotary printing machine comprises a ductor roller (12), a moistening roller (3) and an intermediate and application roller (4) which engages a plate cylinder (5) as well as an inking roller (6). A buffer roller (9) provided with a hydrophilic surface is associated with the intermediate and application roller (4). Thus, when plate gap 8 passes the intermediate and application roller 4, excess moisture is retained on buffer roller 9, thus ensuring that the plate is not over-moistened immediately after the plate gap. <IMAGE>
