Abstract

The invention relates to a stable plant food solution that contains macronutrients and has the following characteristics. It consists of magnesium and phosphorus, it has a total water content of 20-45 wt-% and preferably 35-42 wt-%, and the MG/P molar ratio in it is 0.9-1.2 : 2 and preferably 1-1.2 : 2, It also contains micronutrients in an amount that is sufficient to cover the micronutrient requirements for a complete fertilizer whose total phosphorus content is supplied by the plant food solution. It also contains chelate-forming substances in an amount that is sufficient to bind all the micronutrients in the chelate form. The solution in question is prepared by adding phosphoric acid to an aqueous slurry of magnesium oxide and introducing the micronutrients and chelating substances into at least part of the slurry before the addition of the phosphoric acid. The resulting solution is stable at temperatures of down to -30 degrees C.
