Abstract
Prostaglandin compounds of the formulae <IMAGE> and <IMAGE> in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1, are prepared. These compounds are obtained by starting from a compound of the formula <IMAGE> and reducing the 9-oxo group in this to the hydroxyl group and subsequently acylating. The silyl protective group is then eliminated, and the radical -CH2-COOR11 is introduced into the side chain by condensation with an appropriate halide. Protective groups which are present are replaced by hydrogen, and finally the acyl radicals in positions 1 and 9 are eliminated, resulting in compounds of the formula XLII. The compounds of the formula XLI are obtained by starting from the compounds which already contain the side chain -CH2-COOR11. The acyl radicals in positions 1 and 9 in these compounds are then eliminated, the 9-hydroxyl group is oxidised to the 9-keto group, and finally the protective group R2 is replaced by hydrogen. The resulting compounds can be used as intermediates for the preparation of prostaglandins.
