Abstract
The pressure of the hydraulic fluid which is used for the expansion and pressing of the tube (8) into contact with the wall of the hole is increased to a level at which the expansion of the tube and of the wall of the hole which occurs is such that, after relief of the pressure, the tube is permanently gripped by the wall of the hole by virtue of the positive difference in the unhindered elastic recovery of the tube and of the wall of the hole. The method can be used, in particular, in the production of heat exchangers.
