Abstract

1537126 Adjusting vehicle headlamps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 15 April 1976 [19 April 1975] 15427/76 Heading F4R In a hydromechanical system for adjusting the inclination of vehicle headlamps, cup seals 7. 8. 21 are provided at a manual adjuster device 1 and at a headlamp tilting device 15 where these are connected to the hydraulic part of the system. In one arrangement, shown in Fig. 2, adjustments to headlamp tilt are made by rotating a knob 39 carrying a screw thread 37. Piston rods 33, 34, each having a lateral tooth 35, 36, are thereby displaced to drive pistons 5, 6 and cup seals 7, 8. In another arrangement, a preset condition is achieved by rotating a screw until a pin and detent arrangement engage (Fig. 3, not shown). In one arrangement of the tilting device 15 as shown in Fig. 4, a headlamp tilting lever engages a socket 56 on a piston rod 29 normally urged upwardly by a spring 50. The fluid in the system may be replenished from a filler 55 which engages the device 15 with a bayonet fit 52, 54. In another arrangement, the position of the socket 56 relative to the housing may be varied by adjusting an outer nut (60) (Fig. 5, not shown), which surrounds the housing. In both cases a cup seal 21 seals the hydraulic section of the system.
