Abstract

1450482 Seat slides WHITEHEAD MOTO FIDES STABILIMENTI MECCANICI RIUNITI SpA 5 June 1974 [5 Jan 1973] 24951/74 Heading A4J A seat slide mechanism includes a rail 12 for fixing to the floor and a moveable rail 14 mounted thereon. The fixed rail 12 has a plurality of equidistant cut-outs spaced along one edge, and the moveable rail 14 has a single cut-out 70 which may be brought into register with any selected one of the fixed rail cut-outs. A plate 16 is secured (as by welding) to a sidewall of rail 14 and has a bridge 32 stamped therefrom at one end. One end of a lever 40 engages below the bridge 32 and is secured thereto by a pivot 44, a side arm 52 of the lever being projected through a hole 18 in plate 16 in such a position as to be engagable with a cut-out in rail 12 via cut-out 70 in rail 14 to lock the rails together. A hair pin spring 60 biases the lever 40 into the locking position, a handle 56 being provided to operate the lever. An upward projection 54 of the side arm 52 keeps the lever close against plate 16. The plate 16 is symmetrical about its longitudinal centre line so that it is equally useable for left or right handed seats. Holes 46, 48 in the lever allow passage of electrodes for welding the plate 16 to the rail 14.
