Abstract
1498847 Detecting metal objects ASEA AB 10 April 1975 [11 April 1974] 14734/75 Heading G1N In a presence detector output signals are analyzed to determine whether or not they are produced by an object to be detected. In a metal detector a conveyer conveys material at a known speed past a detector in the form of magnetizing and detector coils arranged above and below or at the side of the conveyer the output signal, Fig. 2 is analyzed to ascertain whether it is a true signal formed by the presence of a metal object in the material or a false signal. This is achieved by determining the periods Tl and T3 during which the positive and negative pulses exceed the threshold levels V 1 , V 2 and the period T2. If the period T2 is less than a predetermined period and the periods Tl and T3 exceed respective predetermined times the presence of an object is indicated.
