The device according to the illustrated embodiment is preferably manufactured in a manner known per se by extruding an elastic plastic material into a long hose, which is then divided into individual marks by transverse cutting. The device has two main parts, namely an outer portion 1 in the form of an upside-down U, the central middle part of which has a marking symbol 2 on its outside, and an inner portion 3. The latter has two side legs 4 and 5 and a central bellows-shaped part 6. Between this and the outer part 1 a space is delimited, which can receive a line 7, namely by the 461 G65 marking device being stepped over the line in the axial direction, as shown in Fig. 2. There the device has been mounted on a relatively small line, meaning that essentially only the bellows-shaped part 6 deformed.
