A supply system for an endoscopic apparatus includes means whereby the light unit of the endoscope is fed with current at a frequency greater than 15 K.Hz. An endoscope 1 is provided with a light unit 2 at one end, the light being supplied from an A.C. source LN by way of a transformer-rectifier combination, a transistor oscillator, the output frequency of which is greater than 15 K.Hz, and a step down transformer T2. A indicating lamp PL1 is provided and the supply current may be adjusted by a variable resistor RV1. In a second embodiment the source of electricity is a battery.
