Abstract

1,192,560. Crystal oscillator circuits. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 10 Aug., 1967 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 36781/67. Heading H3T. In an oscillator having a crystal tuning means CR comprising a crystal body CW coupling two resonators, one resonator PR is connected in the feedback path of an amplifier, e.g. transistor TR, the other resonator SR is adapted to supply output signals to a load network LN and the coupling is such that depending on whether the other resonator SR is terminated by a low or high impedance the resonators pass energy over substantially only a first or a second pass-band respectively. The trimmers CT 1 and CT 2 tune the primary and secondary resonators PR and SR to the same operating frequency. The coupling between the resonators PR and SR may be critical or less than critical and is varied by adjusting the mass loading of the electrodes E1-E4 or the spacing between electrodes. Frequency drifts of the oscillator tuning relative to the filter tuning due to temperature changes are avoided by forming the resonators PR and SR on the same crystal body.
