Abstract
1,263,519. Weft replenishing in looms. ALMHULTS BRUK A.B. 2 Sept., 1969 [2 Sept., 1968], No. 43444/69. Heading DIE. For weft replenishment in a loom having a shuttle box 5, with a number of superimposed shuttle compartments 6, swinging with the sley 2, the box 5 is displaced upwardly until the shuttle compartment containing the shuttle to be replenished is free of obstruction by the picking motion, the shuttle is moved sideways by a motor operated screw device 12 until it is situated beneath a shuttle or bobbinchanging magazine 15 at which the shuttle or bobbin is changed, the shuttle is returned to its appropriate shuttle compartment and the shuttle box 5 is returned to its normal operating level. The box 5 is raised and lowered during weaving to present the desired shuttle compartment to the picker by a linkage mechanism 19, 18, 10 controlled by the pattern mechanism. If at any position of the box 5 the weft sensing device, e.g. an optical sensor, indicates an empty bobbin 2 in the shuttle, a motor 26 is energised, when the shuttle reaches its shuttle box, to rotate an eccentric 20 connecting rod 19 to lever 18 through 180‹ whereby lever 18 is rotated an additional amount to raise box 5 to the required replenishing level. The sley moves rearwardly, under the control of a drive and brake mechanism such as described in Specification 1,061,826, so that a sectional finger 31, Fig. 6, on a nut 13 engages in a recess in the side of the shuttle, and motor 11 drives screw 12 to move the shuttle sideways to magazine 15 when, in the embodiment shown, a fresh bobbin is knocked into the shuttle by hammers; alternatively the whole shuttle could be changed.
