Abstract

941,964. Fourdrinier fabric. APPLETON WIRE WORKS CORPORATION. April 26, 1961 [May 18, 1960], No. 15082/61. Heading D1K. A Fourdrinier paper making fabric is woven so that the weft knuckles on at least one side project beyond the warp knuckles, to sustain the wear during use, the number of weft threads per inch being from 1“ to 4 times that of the warp. The weft threads are of phosphor bronze, stainless steel, glass or nylon and are preferably more flexible than the warp, the threads of which can be single twisted or paired, and may be flat. In a plain weave, Fig. 14, the knuckles 28 of the weft threads 26 are more pronounced than those of the warp threads 27, to produce a wear surface 25 and paper surface 24. Preferably, however, a twill weave, Figs. 4 or 5, is used.
