Abstract

The tape is formed from natural or textured synthetic yarn and an elasticated selvedge yarn (e.g. a gimped elastomeric yarn) is inter woven into the warp so that it forms consecutively a series of loops extending beyond the edge of the tape and a series of loops inwardly of the edge of the tape to form a sinuous edge. Pref. the weft forms similar series of loops to define a sinuous edge which is 180 degrees out of phase with the sinuous edge formed by the selvedge yarn to produce a cable effect. Pref. a pair of elasticated central yarns are provided extending parallel with the warp. The tape is formed with a decorative anti-fray edge.
