1,115,528. Capsules for bottles. LE BOUCHAGE MECANIQUE. 28 Sept., 1965 [20 Jan., 1965; 4 June, 1965], No. 41193/65. Heading B8T. A tamper-proof capsule, of the kind which is crimped below the neck ring of a bottle and which has one or more circular lines of incisions 1 alternating with bridges (2), Fig. 1 (not shown), above the crimped portion of the capsule, has lips 5, 6 defined by the incisions, the lips being at least partially superimposed and in contact to increase the resistance of the capsule to compression during sealing. The incisions and bridges may be formed in a bulge (10) in the skirt 3 of the capsule, Fig. 4 (not shown). In the embodiments of Figs. 7-8 (not shown), the upper lip 6 is displaced inwardly and outwardly respectively. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), two lines of incisions are cut and the band (15) thereby formed is displaced inwardly. Again, Figs. 10-14 (not shown), the lower lip (20), defined by incisions (21), is displaced inwardly by an amount greater than the thickness of the skirt, thereby forming puckers which are gathered together to form a rib (25) which extends back into line with the upper lip (26). The rib may be formed midway between adjacent bridges (24).
