Förfarandet omfattar att vid en matningsstation (41, 42, 43), utföra minst ett bearbetningssteg för att tillhandahålla minst två komponenter, att vid matningsstationen (41, 42, 43) anordna nämnda minst två komponenter på en gemensam interrimsbärare (7), och att överföra nämnda komponenter till minst en på avstånd från matningsstationen (41, 42, 43) belägen materialsatsbärare (6), så att var och en av nämnda materialsatsbärare (6) innehåller ett flertal komponenter som är avsedda att sammanfogas med varandra för att ingå i en förutbestämd produkt.Förfarandet omfattar vidare att överföringen av komponenterna till materialsatsbäraren utförs med hjälp av en numeriskt styrd plockningsanordning, under det att interrimsbäraren och materialsatsbäraren förflyttas med hjälp av en gemensam transportanordning, mellan första och andra lagringsplatser i en första eller andra lagringsanordning (1, 2, 3) för lagring av ett flertal materialsatsbärare (6).
