Description

SAFETY DEVICE Technical FieldThe present invention concerns a safety device of a lamp, covering a light device and electrical parts.
BackgroundIf a light device, such as a light bulb, LED-light, fluorescent lamp or the like, brakes for some reason there is a risk that pieces of the light device will be spread in anuncontrolled way. There is therefore a need for a protection hindering spreading of partsof a broken light device. This is not at least important as a child safety device.
For child safety it is also benef1cial if all electrical parts are covered, hinderingunwanted manipulation. It is also benef1cial if the safety device hinders that someone, for instance a child, smashes the light device intentionally or unintentionally.
WO 2014/206434 shows a safety device of a lamp. Even if such a safety devicefunctions satisfactorily, the experience is that it will become very hot sometimes.
There is therefore a need for a safety device that does not become too hot.
Summa According to one aspect of the present invention a safety device is arranged, placed surrounding a light device and the electrical parts of the lamp. The safety devicecomprises an upper part and a lower part. The upper part is attached to a lamp holderand the lower part is attached to the upper part. The safety device has means to let airflow freely through it.
The means to let the air flow freely may comprise a number of first airopenings arranged, in use of the safety device at a light device, at a vertical distancefrom a number of second air openings. Thereby cooling air can flow freely from the firstair openings to the second air openings.
In one embodiment the upper part is attached to the lower part such that adistance is provided between the upper part and the lower part. Thereby air is allowed tobe let in, or be let out - depending on the orientation of the safety device in use at a lamp, between the upper and lower part.
According to another aspect of the invention the lower part is a globe parthaving a vertical ring. Said Vertical ring has altemating outer ring sections and innerring sections. The outer ring sections have threads on an outer side, for connection tothe upper part. The inner ring sections have grooves, which are open upwards. Theupper part is a cylindrical part having a horizontal flange at one end. Said horizontalflange has a number of ventilation openings, at even spacing.
Further objects and advantages of the present invention will be obvious to aperson skilled in the art when reading the detailed description below of embodiments of the present invention.
Brief Description of the Drawings The invention will be described further below by way of examples and withreference to the enclosed drawings. In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a part of the safety device according to thepresent invention; Fig. 2a is a perspective view of another part of the safety device according tothe present invention; Fig. 2b is a perspective view in another direction of the part of the safetydevice of Fig. 2a; Fig. 2c is a cut perspective view of the part of the safety device of Figs. 2a and2b; and Fig. 3 is a cut perspective view of the safety device according to the present invention mounted to a pendant lamp and indicating a shade being mounted.
Detailed DescriptionAs used in this description the terrns "lower", "upper" and similar expressions are in relation to a pendant lamp. The safety device may have other orientation for othertypes of lamps.
The safety device of the present invention is forrned of two parts, a lower partto surround a light bulb or the like of a lamp and an upper part to be mounted to a lampholder.
In Fig. l a lower part in the forrn of a globe part l is shown. The globe part lhas an upper ring 2 in the forrn of a vertical wall. The ring 2 has a number of outer ringsections 3, with threads 4 on the outer side of each outer ring section 3, and a number of inner ring sections 5 having a recess 6 open upwards. In the shown embodiment the recesses 6 can be said to have a U form, but the exact form of the recesses 6 is notcritical. However, it is benef1cial if the recesses are relatively large. The outer ringsections 3 and the inner ring sections 5 are placed altemating at even spacing. Inside thering 2 an opening 7 is forrned, giving access to the inside of the globe part 1. As shownin Fig. 1 the inner ring sections 5 are displaced inwardly in relation to the outer ringsections 4, giving different inner diameters. Thus, the inner diameter dl of the inner ringsections 5 is smaller than the inner diameter d2 of the outer ring sections 3. Thus, thering 2 could be said to have a wave form.
Even though the lower part is shown as a globe part 1 in Fig. 1, a person skilledin the art realises that the lower part may have other forms.
In Figs. 2a-2c an upper part in the form of a cylindrical part 8 is shown. Thecylindrical part 8 has a generally cylindrical form with a flange 9 at the upper end, which flange 9 is directed inwardly. The flange 9 has a horizontal orientation. Inside theflange 9 a through opening 10 is formed. The flange 9 has a number of ventilation holes11 placed at an even spacing. An inner ring 12 is placed at the inner circumference ofthe flange 9, which inner ring 12 projects vertically downwards. The ring 12 has threads13 on the inner side. On the lower side of the flange 9 a cover 14 is placed below eachof the ventilation holes 11. Each cover 14 is placed at a distance from the flange 9 insuch a way that open areas are formed between the cover 14 and the flange 9. The mainpurpose of the covers 14 is to hinder direct access to the inside of the cylindrical part 8.
Threads 15 are placed on the inside of the lower section of the cylindrical part8. The globe part 1 and the cylindrical part 8 are mounted to each other by means of thethreads 4 of the outer ring sections 3 of the globe part 1 and the threads 15 on the insideof the lower section of the cylindrical part 8.
The globe part 1 of the safety device is to be placed around a light device in theform of a light bulb 16 or the like. In the example shown in Fig. 3 the light bulb 16 isreceived in a lamp holder 17. The lamp holder 17 is mounted to the cylindrical part 8 ofthe safety device by means of threads 18 cooperating with the threads 13 on the insideof the inner ring 12 of the flange 9. The lamp holder 17 has an upper ring 19 and ishanging in an electrical cord 20. In one embodiment the upper ring 19 is mounted to thelamp holder by means of threads, as is well known to a person skilled in the art. Inanother embodiment the upper ring 19 is an integrated part of the lamp holder.
As indicated in Fig. 3 a lamp shade 21 can be mounted to the lamp holder 17.The lamp shade 21 has a number of pins 22 attached to a central ring 23, which centralring 23 is held between the flange 9 of the cylindrical part 8 of the safety device and the upper ring 19 of the lamp holder 17. In other embodiments the safety device is usedwithout any lamp shade.
As indicated by arrows in Fig. 3 air can flow between the inner ring sections 5of the ring 2 of the globe part 1 and the lower part of the cylindrical part 8. The globepart 1 is attached to the cylindrical part 8 such that a distance A is provided between theglobe part 1 and the cylindrical part 8. In one embodiment the distance A is between 1-50 mm, preferably between 2-20 mm, and most preferably between 3-10 mm. By meansof the placement of the ventilation openings between the globe part 1 and the cylindricalpart 8, said ventilation openings will be more or less hidden, in that they are notimmediately recognisable as ventilation openings. A person skilled in the art realisesthat the exact form of the recesses 6 of the inner ring sections 5 are of no importance, aslong as air can flow freely through said recesses 6. Air can also flow through theventilation holes 11 of the flange 9 of the upper part 8, whereby the air will flowbetween the covers 14 at the ventilation holes 11 and the flange 9. By means of therecesses of the inner ring sections 5 and the ventilation holes 1 1, the safety device willbe ventilated by means of flowing air, assisting in keeping the temperature inside the safety device low.
