Abstract

Light projection device comprising a projector with a casing (1) with at least one lighting element (2), a heat sink (3), a fan (4) and a connection element (5) for fixing it to a rail, wherein the projector has front and rear openings (6,7) delimited by a support element (8) of a reflector (9) and by a rear cap (10) and wherein the openings are communicated through longitudinal passages (11), which determine areas of passage of the cooling air, suctioned by the fan (4) through the rear opening (7) and driven towards the front opening (6), avoiding in this way to expose the fan to the heat released by the lighting elements and that the device overheats.

Description

    Object of the invention.
  • The present invention relates to a light projection device, of the type comprising: a projector equipped with a casing which houses at least one lighting element, a heat sink, and a fan; and a connection element for the securing of the projector to a rail or support element; said connection element having therein the necessary electronics for the connection of the device to a power point and the power supply of the projector.
  • Field of application of the invention.
  • This invention is applicable in the lighting apparatus manufacturing sector.
  • Background of the invention.
  • Light projection devices are very well known in the market, mainly designed for interior light applications and basically formed by a projector coupled in positionable manner to a connection element which allows its securing to a rail or support element, and which has therein the necessary electronics for the power supply of the projector and its connection to a power point which may be integrated in a support rail.
  • A projection device of this type is disclosed in document EP2042804 of the same holder of the present invention, although the objective of protection of said document are automatic actuation means for the longitudinal movement of an adapter with respect to a support rail.
  • There is currently the tendency to use in this type of projection devices, and in others of different characteristics, one or several lighting elements formed by LEDS, since they have a useful life and consumption appreciably lower than other lighting elements, e.g. halogen lamps, or incandescent lamps.
  • However, a drawback of these light projection devices that use LEDS as lighting elements is the high amount of heat dissipated, which causes the heating of the casing and the other neighbouring elements such as the connection element in the case of light projection devices of the type mentioned.
  • This concentration of heat also negatively affects the performance and the useful life of the LED meaning that an objective of the manufacturers of this type of devices is to achieve the greatest possible dissipation of the heat released by the LEDS.
  • In this regard, it is habitual that this type of projection devices have a heat sink inside the casing of, generally of aluminium, and a fan responsible for causing air circulation which extracts the heat released by the lighting elements from the projector casing, performing a refrigeration or cooling of the heat sink.
  • Generally, in this type of spotlights the fan is disposed above the sink for which reason said fan is also exposed to the rising heat released by the lighting elements.
  • On the other hand, the incorporation and disposal of these elements inside the casing provides limited results as regards the heat dissipation capacity.
  • Therefore, the objective of the invention is the development of a light projection device, which being of the type of those described above has construction characteristics aimed at providing effective ventilation inside the casing and achieve a suitable refrigeration of the LEDS or lighting elements contributing to improving their performance and avoiding a reduction in the useful life thereof.
  • Description of the invention.
  • The light projection device object of this invention is of the type mentioned previously and which comprises: a projector equipped with a casing which houses at least one LED-type lighting element, a heat sink, and a fan; and a connection element for the securing of the projector to a rail or support element, said connection element having therein the necessary electronics for the power supply of the projector and its connection to a power point.
  • To achieve the proposed objectives, and in accordance with the invention, the projector has peripheral front and rear openings at opposite ends of the casing, respectively delimited by a support element of a light reflector and by a rear cap.
  • Said front and rear openings are intercommunicated inside the casing, through longitudinal passages defined in the heat sink and which form areas of passage of the cooling air suctioned by the fan through the rear opening and driven by said fan towards the front opening.
  • Given that these light projection devices are normally disposed in a raised position and with the lighting element directed downward, with the previous disposal, the heat released by the lighting elements, which tends to be displaced in rising direction towards the rear end or area of the casing, is driven by the fan towards the lower area and released to the outside through the front opening disposed peripherally around the light reflector support element.
  • Several advantages are achieved with this disposal among which we can mention that the fan is not exposed to the heat released by the lighting elements, since during their operation the heat displaces towards the lower area of the light, preventing it from falling on the fan.
  • Another advantage is that the air circulation inside the longitudinal passages of the heat sink guarantees its correct cooling, preventing its excessive heating.
  • These and other advantages of the invention shall be more clearly appreciated in light of an example of embodiment of the light projection device of the invention shown in the figures described below.
  • Description of the figures.
  • To complement the description being made and in order to aid towards a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, in accordance with a preferred example of practical embodiment thereof, a set of drawings is attached as an integral part of said specification wherein, with illustrative and non-limiting character, the following has been represented:
    • Figure 1 shows a schematic elevation view of an example of embodiment of the light projection device according to the invention mounted on an electrified support rail.
    • Figure 2 shows a partial perspective view of the device wherein a quadrant of the casing and the elements housed therein have been shown in cross-section to allow their observation.
    • Figure 3 shows a partial elevation view of the light projection device according to the invention wherein the projector has been shown in cross-section by its vertical middle plane and wherein the areas of air passage therein have been shown with broken lines.
    Preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • In the example of embodiment shown in the attached figures, the light projection device comprises a projector equipped with a casing (1) which houses therein a LED-type lighting element (2), a heat sink (3), and a fan (4).
  • In the example shown the projector is connected to a connection element (5) for its securing to a support "C" rail, which may be an electrified rail; the connection element (5) having therein the necessary electronics for the power supply of the projector.
  • As can be observed in the attached figures, the project has peripheral front and rear openings (6, 7), respectively, at opposite ends of the casing (1).
  • The front opening (6) of the casing (1) is delimited by a support element (8) of a reflector (9) which is disposed aligned with the LED or lighting element (2).
  • The rear opening (7) is delimited by the casing (1) and by a rear cap (10).
  • Said front and rear openings (6, 7) are intercommunicated inside the casing (1) through longitudinal passages (11) defined in the heat sink (3); defining areas of passage of the cooling air which is suctioned by the fan (4) through the rear opening (7) and driven by the fan (4) towards the front opening (6).
  • Having adequately described the nature of the invention and an example of a preferred embodiment, it must be noted that the materials, form, size and layout of the described elements may be modified, provided that this does not involve altering the essential characteristics of the invention described in the following claims.
