Description

65106 SLUDGE COLLECTION SYSTEM Technica| tie|d
[0001] The present invention re|ates generally to s|udge co||ector systems and more particu|ar|y to a chain ond scraper s|udge collection system.
Background ort
[0002] ln prior ort, s|udge collection systems are known, wherein o number ott|ights are moved a|ong the bottom ot a tank by means ot two t|ight chains, one oneach long side ot o rectangular tank, ond to which the scrapers are attached. Tooperate, the tlights mounted on two para||e| strands ot chain scrape the sett|edso|ids along the tank t|oor to s|udge hoppers. On the return run, the tlights con skim the surtace ond concentrate the tloating materia| ot o scum removal device.
[0003] The chains are associated to a p|ura|ity ot sprockets ond one ot thesprockets is driven by means ot an e|ectric drive motor mounted above the tank. Thus, the driven sprocket is mechanica||y connected to the drive motor by means ot a drive chain.
[0004] The above described prior ort system is associated with a number otdrawbacks. The drive motor is provided on a p|attorm above the tank, adding tocosts ond size. The drive chain between the drive motor ond the driven sprocket isprone to wear. Furthermore, the tlight chains are a|so prone to wear ond sometimesa cog on one side ot the tank s|ips, resulting in non-para||e| operation ot the tlights. This in turn may lead to a breakdown, resulting in a cost|y interruption ot the operation.
Summary ot invention[0005] An object ot the present invention is to provide a chain and scraper s|udge co||ection system with a simp|er mechanica| |ayout than prior art systems. ó5i0ó
[0006] The invention is bosed on the insight thot driven sprockets ot o choin ond scroper s|udge collection system con be directly rototed by o motor.
[0007] According to the invention there is provided o s|udge co||ection systemcomprising o tonk hoving o bottom ond two opposing wo||s, o scroper t|ightodopted to be moved oiong the bottom ot the tonk, two t|ight choins to which thescroper t|ight is ottoched, o piuroiity ot sprockets, on which the t|ight choins oreprovided, ond wherein ot |eost one sprocket is o driven sprocket driven by o motor, the system being chorocterized in thot the driven sprocket is directly rototed by the motor.[0008] ln o preterred embodiment, the motor is o hydroulic motor.
[0009] ln one embodiment the system comprises two driven sprockets, one oneoch ot the two opposing wo||s ond eoch being directly rototed by o respectivemotor. ln this woy, o contro| system con compensote tor ony misolignment ot the t|ight choins. [00i 0] Further preterred embodiments ore detined by the dependent cloims.
Briet description ot drowincis [00i i] The invention is now described, by woy ot exomple, with reterence to the occomponying drowings, in which: Fig. io is sectiono| side view ot o tirst embodiment ot o s|udge co||ection system occording to the invention hoving o sing|e drive motor,Fig. i b is o pion view ot the s|udge co||ection system ot Fig. io, Fig. ic is o cross sectiono| view ot the s|udge co||ection system ot Fig. io, 65106 Fig. 20 is section0| side view of 0 second embodiment of o s|udge collection system 0ccording to the invention h0ving du0| drive motors,Fig. 2b is 0 p|0n view of the s|udge co||ection system of Fig. 20,Fig. 2c is 0 cross section0| view of the s|udge co||ection system of Fig. 20, Fig. 30 is 0n exploded view of 0 drive motor comprised in the system of Figs. i0-c or Figs. 20-c, Fig. 3b shows the drive motor of Fig. 30 0ssemb|ed ond mounted to 0 |ong w0|| of 0 s|udge co||ection system t0nk,Fig. 3c is 0 section0| view of the 0ssemb|ed drive motor of Fig. 3b, ond Fig. 4 is 0 schem0tic di0gr0m of 0 contro| system comprised in the embodiment shown in Figs. 20-c.
Description of embodiments
[0012] ln the fo||owing, 0 det0i|ed description of 0 s|udge co||ection system wi||be given, first with reference to Figs. i0-c, wherein 0 first embodiment is shown. Thesystem, gener0||y design0ted i, comprises 0 rect0ngu|0r t0nk TO h0ving 0 bottomi2 ond two opposing w0||s 140, i4b. The t0n|< TO is mode of concrete or 0nyother suit0b|e m0teri0|. At |e0st one ond prefer0b|y 0 p|ur0|ity of scr0per flights 200re 0d0pted to be moved 0|ong the bottom of the t0nk, of which one is shown in thefigure. The speed with which the scr0per flights 0re moved 0|ong the bottom 12 depends on the 0pp|ic0tion but is prefer0b|y 0bout i meter per minute.
[0013] The scr0per f|ights 0re 0tt0ched to two f|ight ch0ins 220, 22b, which m0ybe convention0| ch0ins m0de of for ex0mp|e stee|. The f|ight ch0ins 0re provided on 0 p|ur0|ity of sprockets 24, 26. Of these sprockets, one is 0 driven sprocket 26 651064 which is directly driven, i.e., rototed by o motor 28. lt is preferred thot the motor 28 is o hydroulic motor.
[0014] There is provided ot |eost one shoft ossembly 30, which is provided with osprocl Thereby, the scroper flights ore moved in o closed loop until operotion is stopped.
[0015] A second embodiment of o sludge collection system will now be describedwith reference to Figs. 2o-c. This second embodiment is in mony ospects similor tothe first embodiment ond the system, generolly designoted 101, comprises orectongulor tonk 10 hoving o bottom 12 ond two opposing wolls 14o, 14b. At|eost one ond preferobly o plurolity of scroper flights ore odopted to be moved olong the bottom of the tonk, of which one is designoted 20 in the figure.
[0016] The scroper flights ore ottoched to two flight choins 22o, 22b, which oreprovided on o plurolity of sprocl the system ond eventuolly results in mechonicol breokdown. 65106
[0017] With reference to Fig. 4, in this second embodiment, by providing sensorsló on eoch long woll l4o, l4b odopted for detecting the position of the scroperflights 20, ony oblique position of the scroper flights con be detected. lf suchcondition is detected, o control system l8 connected to the sensors ló ond themotors 28 corrects this by increosing the speed of the motor 28 driving the flightchoin logging behind olternotively by decreosing the speed of the motor driving the flight choin being oheod.
[0018] The detection of such condition with on oblique position of o scroper flightis olso on indicotion thot the system is in need of mointenonce ond such moin-tenonce con therefore be scheduled in o timely woy insteod of being forced due to mechonicol breol
[0019] A motor 28 used for driving o driven sprocl ollowing the driven sprocl
[0020] Preferred embodiments of o sludge collection system occording to theinvention hove been described. lt will be reolized thot these embodiments con bevoried within the scope of the ottoched cloims without deporting from the inventiveideo. Thus, it will be reolized thot the feotures of the different embodiments con becombined in different woys. For exomple, the sensors included in the second embodiment moy olso be opplied in the first embodiment.
