Abstract
The present invention relates to a system (2) for reducing the risk of aquaplaning of a vehicle (1) which is driven on a wet road surface, comprising at least one compressed air system, minimum control system and at least one nozzle (5), nozzle or the like. The unique thing about the present invention is that the system (2) comprises at least one first nozzle (5), which emits the first high-pressure fl (3) which counteracts the influence of the speed wind on the second high-pressure ((8) from at least one second nozzle (7), whose high-pressure flow (8) ) blows away all or part of the water condition on the road surface in front of the wheel.
Description
In addition, the wheel arches of most vehicles are not designed to divert, for example, water that is thrown up from the wheel track. When the rear tires reach this point where the front tires have passed, there is almost as much water left on the road surface as before the front tire passed.
There is therefore a need for a device which can substantially improve the grip against the road surface in the case of a wet road surface.
Another problem with dangerous systems that use air to improve grip is the wind speed. The speed wind counteracts the effect of the impact of the emitted air fl on the removal of water on the roadway. There is a clear need for a method and equipment that can remedy the above mentioned problems with current technology.
Prior art Devices intended to reduce the risk of aquaplaning occurring are already known.
For example, patent specification US53 50035 describes a system for reducing the risk of aquaplaning. The system has sensors which detect when the wheel's grip is lost in connection with the vehicle leveling. When the sensors sense that the wheels are level, a fl fate of compressed air is blown away the water layer in front of the respective wheels. The construction differs to a large extent from the method and device examined. For example, the construction of the patent does not include a first nozzle and a second nozzle, respectively, in accordance with the present invention. Furthermore, the pressurized air is not pulsed in a corresponding manner as in the process of the present patent application. U.S. Pat. No. 6,070,181 also describes a device and a method which is intended to prevent the grip from deteriorating in wet road conditions. This construction also differs to a large extent from the construction according to the present invention. For example, the pressurized air is not pulsed. Furthermore, the structure does not include a front and a rear nozzle in accordance with the present invention.
Pat. No. 4,848,343 describes a method and a device for reducing the stopping distances of an eye plane when landing on a wet runway. The system according to the patent specification comprises - nozzles which blow away water on the ground in front of the pl plane plane wheel. The construction and method differ greatly from the construction in accordance with the present patent application.
A further variant of construction which is intended to reduce the risk of aquaplaning is known via the patent specification DE223 9022. The construction according to the patent specification does not comprise a first nozzle and a second nozzle in accordance with the construction according to the present invention. OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION The main object of the present invention is to create a substantially more efficient method of preventing aquaplaning than with prior art methods. A further object of the present invention is to provide a method which interrupts aquaplaning if aquaplaning occurs. Another object of the present invention is to provide a device with which the method can be carried out.

Referring to the ur gures, a vehicle 1 is provided with a system 2 in accordance with the present invention. System 2 is intended to be used to reduce the risk of the vehicle flattening when driven on a wet road surface. The vehicle 1 can be a car, a bus, a truck, a motorcycle, an eye plane or another wheeled vehicle.
The system 2 comprises a function with which at least one high-pressure fate 3 of compressed air from a compressed air source 4 via at least one nozzle 5, nozzle or the like, is delivered to the surface of the roadway in front of at least one of the vehicle's wheels (tires) 6.
Högtrycksflödet blåser helt eller delvis bort vattenskiktet på ytan framför hjulet 6.The high-pressure fate blows away all or part of the water layer on the surface in front of the wheel 6.
In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the system comprises a first nozzle 5 and at least a second nozzle 7 which are placed in front of at least one of the wheels 6 of the vehicle in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The first nozzle 5 emits a first high pressure fate 3 and the second nozzle 7 emits a second high pressure air de fate 8. The nozzles are designed to give the high pressure fate 8 a high impact force against the water layer on the roadway.
Det andra högtrycksflödet 8 blåser helt eller delvis bort vattenskiktet på ytan framför hjulet 6.The first nozzle 5 is, in the preferred embodiment, intended to deliver a first high-pressure air fl fate 3 in the direction obliquely forward in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The angle between the road surface and the output of the emitted high pressure 3 preferably amounts to 91 to 120 degrees. In alternative embodiments, the angle may be of a different angle suitable for the purpose. The task of the first high pressure 3 3 is to substantially counteract the effect of the wind wind on the second high pressure 8 8 from the second nozzle 7. The first nozzle 3 also has the task of reducing the amount of water in the water layer on the ground surface in front of the wheel. The second nozzle 7 applies at least one second high-pressure fl 8 to the surface of the roadway in front of at least one of the wheels 6 of the vehicle in the direction of travel of the vehicle. The second high pressure fate 8 blows away all or part of the water layer on the surface in front of the wheel 6.
Referring to Figure 3, there is schematically shown an example of a compressed air system for carrying out the method in accordance with the present invention.
The compressed air system comprises at least one compressed air supply 9 from a compressed air source (not shown in figures) which is transferred via at least one non-return valve 10 and at least one pressure switch 11 to at least one pressure tank 12. In alternative embodiments, the compressed tank 12 may be at least one replaceable tank. It is thereby conceivable that a docking system for pressure tanks or the like can be found.
The compressed air supply 9 can take place from an external source or an internal source of compressed air in the vehicle.
The internal pressure source may be a compressor or other compressed air generating device. It is conceivable, for example, that exhaust gases can be used in the compressed air generating device. The non-return valve 10 prevents the compressed air from escaping from the pressure tank 12 in the back way. The measurement of the compressed air from the tank 12 takes place via at least one regulator 13. The regulator 13 regulates, for example, on and off the system in its entirety and optimizes the pressure in the system.
The construction further comprises at least a first valve 14 which controls and switches on the high-pressure flow 3 for the first nozzle 5. The construction further comprises at least a second valve 15 which regulates and switches on the high-pressure flow 8 from the second nozzle 7. Between the regulator 13 and the control valve 14 preferably a first throttle 16 is located. Between the regulator 13 and the control valve 15, preferably at least a second choke 17 is located.
The throttles optimize fl fate. The first valve 14 and the second valve 15 consist of high-speed solenoid valves, i.e. the valves open and close quickly (quickly on and off). With the rapid switch-on of the valve, the water-removing effect of compressed air is made more efficient. The impact energy towards the water surface is higher than with slow valves.
The system 2 further comprises at least one control system with which the functions of the system are controlled.
The control system controls on and off the system as a whole. This occurs, for example, when aquaplaning risks occurring or has occurred. The control system collects information from at least one sensor and preferably from a plurality of sensors. The sensors sense the rotational speed of the wheels, the speed of the vehicle relative to the road surface. The sensors can consist of sensors included in other systems in the vehicle, such as, for example, sensors included in the vehicle's ABS system and other suitable systems. The control system also includes a function with which the frequency between the emitted high-pressure pulses and the length of the high-pressure pulses can be adapted to the speed of the vehicle. The shifts between the front and rear nozzles are freely programmable with the control system. The stop is synchronized with the speed of the vehicle.
Pulserna illustreras i figur 4. In a preferred embodiment of the present method, the output of the high pressure 3 3 and the high pressure 8 are pulsed. First, a pulse of the high pressure 3 3 is emitted from the first nozzle 5, after which a pulse of the high pressure 8 8 is emitted from the second nozzle. The pulses are illustrated in Figure 4. The pulse of a first high-pressure flow 3 from the first nozzle 5 is intended to counteract the negative effect of the wind wind on the second high-pressure air flow from the second nozzle 7.
The function of the first high-pressure air 3 from the first nozzle 5 is also to reduce the amount of water in the water layer on the road surface in front of the wheel. The pulse of the high-pressure air flow 8 from the second nozzle 7 completely or partially blows away the water layer on the surface in front of the wheel 6. In the preferred embodiment, pulses with a pulse width (pulse length) of 5 milliseconds to 100 milliseconds are emitted. Preferably, the pulses are delivered with a pulse width of 20 milliseconds to 70 milliseconds. In alternative embodiments, the pulse width of the pulses may be longer or shorter than the pulse widths specified above.
Figure 5 shows an example of the nature of the actual pressure pulse, taken from an experiment with an equipment and a method in accordance with the present patent application. In the fi gure, the y-axis consists of the emitted air volume at normal pressure. The fi-clock shows in the x-axis the time of the pulse length, which in the figure has a length of 50 milliseconds.
In alternative embodiments, the length of the delivered pressure pulses as well as the length of the intermediate pressure pause may vary widely within the scope of the present invention.
It is further conceivable that the pressure pulses overlap in time.
By emitting the first high-pressure fate 3 and the second high-pressure fate 8 in pulses, a saving of the volume of compressed air used is also achieved.
In four-wheel vehicles, or second vehicles with two wheels on the same axle, the system preferably comprises at least one compressed air-emitting first nozzle 5 and at least one second compressed air-emitting second nozzle 7 placed in front of at least two (a first wheel 6 and a second wheel 16) or four of the vehicle wheels (a first wheel 6, a second wheel 6, a third wheel 17 and a fourth wheel 18). In alternative embodiments, all the wheels of the vehicle 1 may be provided with at least a first nozzle 5 and a second nozzle 7.
In the detailed description of the present invention, construction details which may be obvious to a person skilled in the art may have been omitted. Such obvious design details are included to the extent required to achieve a satisfactory function for the present invention. Although certain preferred embodiments have been described in detail, variations and modifications within the scope of the invention may be apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates and all of these are considered to fall within the scope of the appended claims. It is conceivable, for example, that the system comprises sensors which sense the speed of rotation of the wheels, the data of which is used to detect if any wheel is planar. It is further conceivable that the first high pressure fate 3 and the second high pressure fate 8 are parallel.
Advantages of the Invention With the present invention, a number of advantages are achieved. The most obvious of these is that aquaplaning with decked vehicles can be substantially prevented. Another advantage of the present invention is that the system cancels aquaplaning if the vehicle is planarized. The pulsating high-pressure fate provides a high impact force against the water layer on the road surface.
