Abstract

Lightweight branch cutting device (1), comprising a first arrangement for climbing on the trunk outer side (2a) and a second arrangement for cutting branches. The first arrangement comprises upper and lower wheels (4, 7; 5, 8; 6, 9), which can be pressed against the trunk outer side, and first drive members by which these are driven. The second arrangement comprises branch cutting members (13, 14), and a second drive member (37) by which these are driven. Tool carriers (15, 16), which are mounted such that they can mutually be swung in and out, for application and locking to the trunk outer surface (2a), are included. The first drive members (17, 18, 19) realize with their own weights the pressing of the lower wheels against the trunk outer side. The second transmission comprises a rotatable gear ring, formed by toothed segments (26, 27) in the applied position, which supports the branch cutting member (s), as well as one or more distancing members (28, 29), which determine the distance of the branch cutting member (s) to the said outer side. The distance is determined by pressing, by means of a weight (30, 31) actuated by centrifugal force, during rotation of the gear ring. The device yields technically simple parts with low weights, good ease of handling, even weight distribution and easy adjustability.
