Abstract

The present invention relates to a machine arranged to operate in explosive environments, comprising a rotatable shaft (2) extending through a stationary part (7) of said machine, a gland (3) which is mounted in said stationary part (7) and 5 which is provided with a through hole in order to accommodate said rotatable shaft (2), and dampening means arranged between the gland (3) and the stationary part (7), the dampening means permitting axial and radial movement of the gland (3) in relation to the stationary part (7). The invention is characterized in that the rotatable shaft (2) and the gland (3) are separated such that a tubular flame path (5) is provided there between, a liquid having adhesiveness being applied at the interface between the rotatable shaft (2) and the gland (3) in order to ensure said tubular flame path (5).
