Abstract

The engine brake system has a sensor (145) arranged in an air intake (115) of the engine (110). The gas flow sensor registers a mass of gas per time unit (Fi) and produces in answer to it a gas flow signal (sF), which the engine indicates of the occurring mass of gas per time unit (Fi). A control unit (140) is provided which in addition to receiving the gas flow signal and an engine brake control signal (sEB), determines based on the received signals an operating condition of the engine brake unit (130). An independent claim is included for a method for controlling an engine break unit, and a computer readable medium.
