Abstract

The parking brake (125), acting on at least one wheel of a motor vehicle, is controlled by an actuator (120) which is structured to test if data from the actuator are received within a test interval. An ignition-controlled voltage (Vs) is tested at the actuator so that if there is a voltage failure, then there is no data input. A serial communication system (130) links the parking brake control (110) and the actuator for the response from the braking command input (115) from the driver.
