Abstract
Sulfur is removed from exhaust gases generated by burning fuel by contacting the gas with a green liquor sludge obtained from a sulfate cooking process. An agent for removing sulfur from exhaust gases comprises green liquor sediment or sludge obtained from a sulfate pulp cooking process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Method for removing sulfur from exhaust gases generated by burning sulfur-containing fuels in an oven by contacting the gas with this agent; and (2) Use of this agent for reducing the amount of sulfur oxides (SOx) in exhaust gases generated by burning sulfur-containing fuels.
