Abstract
The measurement method comprises the following steps: (a) sending a series of electromagnetic radiation pulses from a transmitter located at a distance from the object, each pulse illuminating a section of the object; (b) measuring the intensity of the reflected pulses using a receiver located at a distance from the object; (c) measuring the time taking for a transmitted pulse to be reflected back from the object to the receiver; (d) measuring the variation over time of the reflection pulse intensity in the form of a histogram over the distances between the various points within the illuminated object section; (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) for a number of reflection pulses; (f) executing an equation based on the histogram for the different reflection pulses; and (g) determining the structure of the object based on the equation.
