Abstract

A return pipe (8) recirculates exhaust gases from the engine (1) to an intake pipe (6) for supplying the engine with air at an overpressure. The return pipe contains a valve (9) and a cooler (11) for the gases. A control unit (10) opens the valve when the gases leaving the engine have a lower pressure than that inside the intake pipe, creating a backflow of air through the return pipe in order to clean the cooler.
