Abstract

The invention relates to a theft prevention device (1) for motor vehicles. The theft prevention device comprises a first casing part (3) provided with at least one guide (4) such as a track or a rail and a second casing part (5) provided with at least one guide (6) such as a track or a rail. The guide (6) on the second casing part (5) fits the guide (4) of the first casing part (3) so that the second casing part (5) can engage in the first casing part (3) and slide along the guide (4) of the first casing part (3) to an end position. In the second casing part (5) is a rack (7) and in the first casing part (3) is a catch (8) that is disposed to engage with the rack of the second casing part (5) so that the first and second casing part (5) are thereby locked to one another. There is also an operating device (9) in the first casing part (3) disposed to act on the catch (8) so that the operating device (9) can be used to release the catch (8) from the rack (7). The invention also relates to a vehicle provided with a theft prevention device and a method of providing a vehicle with a theft prevention device.
