Abstract
Each screen assembly (15) has an air removal channel connected to its highest point (15T) and exits at a distance (H) above this highest point via at least one vertical tube (30). A device for washing cellulose pulp by diffusion comprises a vertical cylindrical vessel to which pulp is continuously supplied via an inlet in the base, the pulp leaving via an outlet in the top of the vessel. The pulp is passed through at least one screen assembly (15) comprising a number of concentric cylindrical screens, from which the filtrate is removed via channels and to which the washing liquid is supplied via vertical nozzles between each screen assembly. Each screen assembly has an air removal channel connected to its highest point and exits at a distance above this highest point via at least one vertical tube.
