Abstract

FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: claimed invention describes process for coloring natural beryl crystals and articles (jewelry inserts) for improving quality of color thereof. The claimed process comprises irradiating natural beryl crystals with ionizing radiation and heat treating thereof, subjecting heat treated crystals to secondary radiation. Primary and secondary radiations are carried out with electron beam having energy of 6-8 MeV and fluence of 10-2,5•10electron/sq.cm (during each radiation period), and heat treatment is carried out by slowly heating and cooling (2-2.4 deg/h) at 160-170 C for 1 or 2 hours. EFFECT: more efficient coloring process.

Claims (1)

A method is proposed for coloring crystals of natural beryl and products from them (jewelry inserts) to improve the quality of their coloring - coloring under an emerald. The method comprises irradiating crystals natural beryl ionizing radiation and the heat treatment and is characterized in that the heat treated crystals were subjected to secondary exposure, the primary and secondary electron beam irradiation is carried out with an energy of 6 - 8 MeV and a fluence October 15 - 2.5 16 electrons / cm 2 ( at each irradiation), and heat treatment is carried out by slow heating and cooling (2 - 2.5 deg / h) with exposure at 160 - 170 ° C for 1 - 2 hours.
