Abstract

FIELD: metallurgy; methods for processing of metal wastes contaminated with radionuclides by their remelting in melting units, for instance, in induction furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method for utilization of metal wastes contaminated with radionuclides includes metal wastes cropping, monitoring radiation contamination with calculation of admissible level, melting in induction furnace in the air with addition of refining fluxes, formation and removal of slag, pouring of metal into ingot molds and control of metal ingots. If during control of radiation contamination, the radiation contamination exceeds the calculated admissible level, metal wastes are subjected to decontamination. Wastes are melted without metal reduction with multiple formation and removal of slag, and the number of operations of formation and removal of slag is determined by the formula given in the invention description. Besides, radiation decontamination of metal wastes is effected by the methods ensuring deep cleaning from radionuclides with high affinity for metal. Flushed slag during additional operations of formation and removal of slag is used as refining flux in remelting the next batch of metal wastes. EFFECT: extended range of utilized wastes by metal composition, higher volumes of metal wastes applicable for remelting, increase yield of metal suitable for repeated use.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to metallurgy, and in particular to methods of processing metal waste contaminated with radionuclides by remelting them in melting units, for example in induction furnaces. The technical result of the invention is to expand the range of utilized waste in the composition of the metal, increase the volume of metal waste sent to the smelting, increase the yield of recyclable metal. A method for the disposal of metal waste contaminated with radionuclides includes waste cutting, monitoring of radioactive contamination with the calculation of the acceptable level, melting in an induction furnace in the air with the addition of refining fluxes, guiding and removing slag, casting metal into ingot molds and monitoring metal ingots, after the control stage radioactive contamination when exceeding the estimated permissible level, metal waste is decontaminated, waste is melted without metal deoxidation with nogokratnym additional guidance and removal of slag and the amount of guidance and deslagging operations determined by the formula given in the description. In addition, the decontamination of metal waste is carried out using methods that provide deep cleaning of radionuclides with high affinity for metal. Downloaded during additional operations of guidance and removal of slag is used as a refining flux during the remelting of a subsequent batch of metal waste.
