FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: connector has socket 2 connected to first cable 1 and plug 4 connected to second cable 3. Plug 4 and socket 2 have engageable contact members with pin and jack contacts for connecting first cable 1 to second cable 3 and engageable contact members 7, 3, 9 for mechanical connection of plug 4 to socket 2. Pin and jack contacts are placed in tandem in direction of axis of cables 1.3; mechanical contact members have hinges 7, 8 on one end of plug and socket to provide hinged joint between them. Locking device 9 on other hand of plug and socket functions to lock them together on that end when they are pressed to each other. EFFECT: improved reliability and simplified mechanical design.
