Abstract

FIELD: modulation of electromagnetic radiation. SUBSTANCE: autoelectronic modulator of electromagnetic radiation is designed for provision of capability of modulation of electromagnetic radiation in longer wave region of spectrum, for example, with length of wave exceeding one millimeter and for provision of capability of modulation of electromagnetic radiation with frequency of this radiation so that individual pulses of modulated radiation follow each other frequency of this radiation and with specified direction of vector of electric field of electromagnetic wave across output of modulator and in point fixed beforehand. Autoelectronic modulator of electromagnetic radiation has plates of external capacitor arranged on opposite butts between which axis of propagation of electromagnetic radiation passes, polarizer is mounted on axis. Novelty of modulator lies in installation of emission cathodes in the form of rows parallel to plates made with capability of emission of electrons in direction of one definite plate and without emission in direction of the other plate. Cathode is connected to capacitor which can be charged when cathode gives off emission electrons and can neutralize acquired charge either by emission of electrons released by adjacent cathode of nearest row or by current flowing through plate of external capacitor. Цель изобретения: обеспечение возможности модулировать электромагнитное излучение в более длинноволновой области спектра, например излучение с длиной волны более миллиметра, а также обеспечение возможности модулировать электромагнитное излучение с частотой этого излучения так, чтобы отдельные импульсы промодулированного излучения следовали друг за другом с частотой этого излучения и с заданным направлением вектора электрического поля электромагнитной волны на выходе модулятора и в фиксированной заранее точке. Автоэлектронный модулятор электромагнитного излучения содержит расположенные с его противоположных торцов обкладки внешнего конденсатора, между которыми проходит ось распространения электромагнитного излучения, на оси установлен поляризатор. Новым в модуляторе является то, что он снабжен установленными между обкладками на оси эмиссионными катодами в виде рядов, параллельных обкладкам, выполненных с возможностью испускать эмиссионные электроды в направлении одной определенной обкладки и не испускать в направлении другой, причем катод соединен с конденсатором, выполненным с возможностью заряжаться при испускании катодом эмиссионных электронов и нейтрализовать приобретенный заряд либо за счет эмиссионных электронов, испущенных соседним катодом ближайшего ряда, либо за счет тока, текущего через обкладку внешнего конденсатора.The invention relates to devices for modulating electromagnetic radiation. What is new in the modulator is that it is equipped with emission cathodes installed between the plates on the axis in the form of rows parallel to the plates made with the possibility of emitting emission electrodes in the direction of one specific plate and not emitting in the direction of the other, and the cathode is connected to a capacitor configured to be charged when the cathode emits emission electrons and neutralize the acquired charge either due to emission electrons emitted by the adjacent cathode of the nearest row, or due to t of current flowing through the lining of the external capacitor.
