The invention relates to the field of hydraulic engineering, in particular to the construction of artificial canals. Effect: reduce the cost of construction of hydraulic structures, reduce environmental damage. The inventive method for regulating the water level in the lower reaches of the Amur River, which consists in the exclusion from the volume of effluents of a portion of flood waters. New in the method is the diversion of flood waters of the Amur River by gravity along existing natural channels to Lake Big Kizi, then along an artificial drainage channel into the Tatar Strait using the energy of discharged water, while the lake is a natural reservoir.
