Abstract
Description
The invention relates to devices for obtaining fresh water from water vapor contained in the surrounding atmospheric air, and can be used to obtain fresh water mainly in coastal areas with high tides and low tides.
[1]. The prototype of the invention is the device described in [1].
The device contains a cooled partition separating the condensation zone of water vapor and cooling water, wherein the cooled partition is made in the form of shields fixed around the perimeter and located at an angle in the direction from the pool, filled with sea water during high tide and emptied during low tide. The pool is equipped in the lower part with spillways with opening and closing doors so that their ends, opposite the fixed ones, are in a free state above the container for collecting fresh water. To provide strength to the fastening of the shields, additional supports are provided in their central part, dug into the ground, and the ends of the shields attached to the pool are located in close proximity to the spillways.
The disadvantage of the device is that when cooling the shields with sea water, only part of its thermal potential is used, since when the pool is emptied, sea water flows from the weirs not only under the shields, but also to the sides of them. In addition, the high flow rate of sea water reduces the useful operating time of the device (the time it takes to obtain fresh water) by accelerating the process of emptying the pool.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the efficiency of using the thermal potential of sea water, as well as to increase the useful operating time of the device.
The goal is achieved by the fact that all the shields on the sides have restrictive surfaces made of low thermal conductivity material that prevent the flow of sea water beyond the boundaries of the water conduits formed by them, the shields and the surface of the earth. The spillways are equipped with pressure regulators for flowing seawater.
1. The design of the device is shown in Fig.1.
8.The device consists of a pool 1, filled with sea water during high tide, in the lower part of which there are spillways 2, initially closed with special doors 3. To the side surface of the pool 1 along its perimeter in the immediate vicinity of the spillways 2 and above them using fastening devices 4, the shields 5 are installed at an angle so that their ends, opposite to the fixed ones, are in a free state above the container for collecting fresh water 6. The shields 5 act as a cooled partition separating the condensation zone of water vapor and cooling water. The flow of condensed fresh water from the condensation zone is carried out into a container for collecting fresh water 6. To add strength to the fastening of the panels 5, supports 7 are additionally provided in their central part, dug into the ground. The shields 5 on the sides have restrictive surfaces made of low thermal conductivity material that prevent the flow of sea water beyond the limits of the water conduits formed by them, the shields 5 and the surface of the earth. The spillways are equipped with pressure regulators for flowing sea water 8.
The device works as follows. At high tide, pool 1 is filled with seawater at a temperature below ambient temperature, which is typical for almost all regions in the summer. In this case, the spillways 2 are in their original position (closed by doors 3). After low tide, when the level of sea water outside the pool is significantly lower than the level of the spillways, 2 doors 3 open - the outflow of sea water into the environment begins. The cold sea water flowing through the weirs 2 will cool the shields 5, thereby creating a condensation zone on their upper surface. Due to their inclination, the moisture condensed on this surface of the shields 5 will flow into the fresh water collection container 6, from where it will be removed for further use before the next tide. The presence of water conduits formed by shields 5, restrictive surfaces and the ground surface will make it possible to more effectively use the thermal potential of sea water, and the use of sea water pressure regulators 8 will increase the useful operating time of the device.
