Abstract
Description
The invention relates to means of protection and defence, namely to liquids with an irritating, non-lethal effect from attacks by aggressive people and animals, used as a projectile dosed mass from small-sized pyro-liquid containers of a closed volume (for example, aerosols such as BAM and BAMP, as well as cartridges and cartridges of barrelless shooting devices of the “ANTIDOG” type) when fired from non-lethal means.
Liquid irritant formulations of such devices can be used for protection and defense by employees of various animal services, hunters, rangers, tourists, as well as military, police, security officers and other forces to deter people or their groups in situations of aggressive actions , civil unrest, hostile demonstrations.
A liquid formulation for non-lethal effects on humans and animals for aerosol self-defense means is known from the prior art according to the RF patent for invention No. 2116284 dated 08/12/1996, where monohydric alcohol and an aromatic ester are used as organic solvents.
The disadvantage of this composition is the small effective throwing range, due to the high volatility and low viscosity of aliphatic monohydric alcohols.
In the invention according to RF patent 2179963, priority dated 06/05/2000, the liquid of non-lethal effects on humans and animals for aerosol self-defense means as an additional organic solvent contains natural vegetable oil of a non-drying or semi-drying type in an amount of 65-93 wt. %, which leads to a significant reduction in the temperature range for maintaining fluidity and to the appearance of composition heterogeneity during long-term storage.
There are known technical solutions for liquid compositions of irritating action (patent for invention of the Russian Federation No. 2528000, priority dated June 21, 2013, patent for invention of the Russian Federation No. 2634448, priority dated October 19, 2016), which as active substances contain irritants permitted in the territory of the Russian Federation and their combinations, the content of which is regulated by order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation No. 583n dated October 22, 2008.
%:The liquid irritating composition for self-defense products according to RF patent No. 2528000 contains one or more irritants, a thickener, and a mixture of organic solvents. A feature of the composition is that as a thickener it contains anionic polyacrylamide with a molecular weight of Mr*10 6 in the following ratio of components, wt. %:
As an irritant, the composition may contain oleoresin capsicum, or a mixture of oleoresin capsicum and ortho-chlorobenzalmalonodinitrile, or a mixture of oleoresin capsicum and dibenz[b,f]-1,4-oxazepine, and as a mixture of organic solvents it contains isopropyl alcohol, ethyl acetate and ethylene glycol.
The disadvantage of this composition is its limited applicability in cartridges and cartridges due to the aggressive effect of ethyl acetate on rubber and plastic structural parts. In addition, the use of highly volatile solvents negatively affects the effective throwing range.
%:The liquid irritant composition for self-defense products (variants) according to RF patent No. 2634448 contains at least one irritant, thickener, dimethyl sulfoxide and an organic solvent glycerol triacetate or a mixture of tri-, di- and mono-glycerol acetates with a glycerol triacetate content of at least 54 wt. . %, with the following ratio of components, wt. %:
The reasons preventing the achievement of the specified technical result when using known compositions according to RF patents No. 2528000 and No. 2634448 include the fact that in these compositions dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is used as an action enhancer in an amount of 2-20% wt. DMSO has a high melting point of +18°C and is prone to crystallization at low temperatures, which significantly reduces the temperature range for maintaining fluidity.
To give the liquid composition the required viscosity in a known composition, thickeners are used: glycerin, cellulose triacetate (TCA), polyvinyl acetate (PVA) in granules, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) of the Dacryl brand, Aerosil ADEG A-300. A significant disadvantage of the combined use of triacetin with glycerin, TAC, PMMA and aerosil is the separation of the liquid mixture during storage, which can lead to a deterioration in the irritating properties of the liquid and the ballistic characteristics of the product due to droplets of the liquid with the highest content of the thickener hitting the target. In addition, TAC and Aerosil form a suspension with glycerol acetates, which, if ingested, can injure unprotected mucous membranes of the eyes.
In addition to the active ingredients, the formulations of the above compositions use organic solvents, thickeners, surface-active action enhancers to increase and accelerate the pungency, and dyes are also used in some formulations.
As a prototype, a liquid irritant composition for self-defense products was selected according to the Russian Federation patent No. 2634448, containing at least one irritant, action enhancer, synthetic dye, thickener, organic solvent or mixture of organic solvents.
%:A feature of the claimed composition, according to one version, is that the composition contains synthetic capsaicin - nonivamide as an irritant, dimethyl sulfoxide as an action enhancer, propylene glycol as an organic solvent, glycerin as a thickener, synthetic food coloring as a dye in the following ratio of components , wt. %:

The task set for the applicant was to improve the quality of the compositions, which have a positive effect on the effectiveness of shots, both in terms of the degree of impact and in range, while maintaining the recipe until it hits the target, and also solved the problem of selecting the components of the mixture, through the combination of which it would be possible to regulate the parameters mixtures in terms of range and irritant effects, including to comply with current legislation.
The invention is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the irritating liquid composition by increasing its kinematic viscosity and increasing permeability to the surface of the object, increasing the purity of the composition due to the components of the composition formulation used and the safety of the liquid composition's effect on the object.
The technical result of the invention is to expand the functionality of liquid irritant compositions used in self-defense products and increase the effectiveness of the composition, operational reliability and safety of the composition used in protective and self-defense products for immobilizing people and animals, without causing damage to the organs and tissues of a living object.
The task of the effectiveness of the irritant properties of the liquid composition without exceeding the irritant content of 6% wt. can be solved by using highly concentrated active ingredients.
The liquid composition of the irritating effect as an irritant contains 96% selective extract of red pepper (OC 96 ) or cheaper “synthetic capsaicin” (N-vanillyl amide of pelargonic acid) known in medicine under the name “nonivamide”, which is not much inferior in pungency and physiological activity to natural capsaicin.
Through experimental testing, it was found that when introducing up to 2 wt.% of the composition into the formulation. DMSO precipitation is not observed. According to one of the options, 2-pyrrolidone was introduced into the formulation, which is an organic compound of the lactam class, which is soluble in glycerol. Melting point 23°C÷25°C. The substance 2-pyrrolidone is used in medicine and pharmaceutical technology as a stabilizer for emulsions and suspensions, a prolonging component, and a binder. Experimental formulations of a liquid composition containing 2% wt. 2-pyrrolidone as an action enhancer showed better results compared to formulations containing DMSO in terms of the speed of action on the skin and the appearance of a burning sensation in volunteers.
Указанный недостаток компенсировали введением в состав высоковязких веществ, хорошо смешивающихся с ПГ, таких как глицерин и полиэтиленгликоль марок ПЭГ-400, ПЭГ-600, ПЭГ-1500.In the course of experimental studies of samples of liquid irritating compositions proposed as an invention, it was found that the effective throwing range is primarily affected by the viscosity of the composition and the physical properties of the solvent used. The composition must maintain fluidity and homogeneity, even at low temperatures, so it is necessary to select a suitable solvent-thickener system. Propylene glycol was chosen as the main solvent, which has a low melting point of -50°C, excellent dissolving properties in relation to irritants and does not have a toxic effect on the human and animal body, has a high boiling point (187°C), but has low viscosity . This disadvantage was compensated by introducing into the composition highly viscous substances that mix well with PG, such as glycerin and polyethylene glycol of the PEG-400, PEG-600, PEG-1500 brands.
During field tests, prototypes of the compositions (table) were examined in the temperature range from -25°C to +50°C; samples in which no formation of crystalline precipitate was observed when kept for 6 hours at -25°C and delamination when kept for 6 hours at +50°C.
33-2000.After climatic tests, prototypes of the liquid were placed in the pyro-liquid cartridge of the “ANTIDOG” device and fire tests were carried out. Samples were considered to have passed the test if, when thrown from a distance of 4 meters, at least 80% wt. the liquids fell on a paper target measuring 0.5×0.5 meters, and no more than 5 wt.% remained inside the cartridge channel, while the center of the cartridge nozzle and the center of the target were located horizontally on the same axis. In parallel with the fire tests, the kinematic viscosity of liquid samples was measured at +25°C according to the GOST 33-2000 method.
Based on the test results, it was established that an effective throwing range of at least 4 meters from the cartridge of the “ANTIDOG” device is ensured if the kinematic viscosity of the liquid exceeds 55 mm 2 /s, while the remaining liquid in the cartridge channel does not exceed 5% wt. with a viscosity of no more than 80 mm 2 /s. The use of 2-pyrrolidone instead of DMSO at a content of no more than 2% wt. slightly affects the viscosity and temperature properties of the liquid, but at the same time increases the rate of exposure (penetration) to the skin.
Depending on the glycerol content, the kinematic viscosity of the experimental liquids of composition No. 1 was 25-95 mm 2 /s. With a glycerol content of 18-22% wt. prototypes of the liquid met the requirements for effective throwing range and maintained homogeneity in the temperature range from -25°C to +50°C.
The kinematic viscosity of liquids containing PEG-400 was 35 mm 2 /s at the maximum thickener content. In this case, during shooting, the formation of a cloud of fine aerosol was observed, the proportion of liquid hitting the target was less than 50%. The viscosity characteristics of test samples containing 30% PEG-600 and 7% PEG-1500 are similar to the formulation containing about 20% glycerol. But when kept at a temperature of -25°C, the solution became cloudy and a precipitate formed.
Таким образом, рецептуры жидкого состава раздражающего действия, содержащие, по меньшей мере, один ирритант, усилитель действия, краситель синтетический, загуститель, органический растворитель или смесь органических растворителей, при следующем соотношении компонентов, мас %:Thus, formulations of an irritating liquid composition containing at least one irritant, action enhancer, synthetic dye, thickener, organic solvent or mixture of organic solvents, in the following ratio of components, wt %:
