Abstract
Description
The invention relates to radar means of automated flight and landing (Aircraft) control systems in the aerodrome zone, using primary radar means with the formation and emission of high-frequency sounding pulses, subsequent reception and processing of radar signals reflected from aircraft and other air objects.
RP-5M [7].Known landing radars (PRL) for flight control and landing in the airfield: PRL-4 [1], RP-3G [2], PRL radar landing systems (RSP) RSP-6M2 [3] and RSP-7 [4] , landing channel of the radar complex AN / TPN-31 [5], PRL PAR 2090C [6] and landing radar RP-5M [7].
Landing radars PRL-4 [1] and RP-3G [2], as well as PRL radar landing systems RSP-6M2 [3] and RSP-7 [4] are developed using reflector antennas with mechanical scanning (overview), allowing uniform consistent airspace survey and aircraft observation in a controlled air zone, as well as together with other radio equipment, are involved in ensuring aircraft landing on the runway of the aerodrome. The disadvantage of these PRLs is the bulkiness of the design, low operational manufacturability, the practical impossibility of their serial production (due to the obsolescence of the element base and materials), low reliability, as well as the mismatch of the accuracy of measuring the main position parameters (coordinates) and aircraft movement to the requirements of modern regulatory documents of the Russian Federation [8 ] and international standards. Another drawback of the PRL data is the lack of the possibility of organizing a quasi-random space survey (uneven in the scanning plane) with the implementation of the aircraft detection and tracking mode with a shorter (compared to the review period) information update interval, which allows improving its energy and accuracy characteristics.
The landing channel of the AN / TPN-31 radar complex [5] was developed using fixed directional and glide path active antenna arrays (ARs) based on active transceiver modules and allows, along with sequential viewing, to carry out a quasi-random airspace survey, providing the possibility of organizing a detection mode and escort aircraft in any arbitrary direction with a changing and shortened period of updating information. The disadvantage of this landing channel is its high cost, due to the use of expensive active transceiver modules in the AR, and the lack of the ability to quickly change the landing direction due to the presence of one fixed combined glide path antenna oriented along only one of two possible opposite directions of aircraft landing on the runway .
The landing radar PAR 2090С [6] was developed using independent directional and glide path passive antenna arrays installed in a predetermined direction by turning using appropriate rotary support devices and performing mechanical scanning of the viewing area. The disadvantage of PRL PAR 2090C is the mechanical movement of the antennas during scanning, which reduces the reliability of the PRL and does not allow a quasi-random survey of the space to implement the detection and tracking of aircraft with a shorter period of updating information. Another disadvantage of PRL PAR 2090C is the complexity of the design, involving the placement of PRL equipment in two containers.
The closest in technical essence to the proposed PRL is the RP-5M PRL (Fig. 1) [7] (prototype) used in modern air traffic control systems to detect and control aircraft flight on the approach path.
RPL RP-5M contains two identical transceiver channels A and B, each of which consists of a transmitter, a circulator, a receiver and a signal processor, as well as reflector antennas and glide paths that are moved in a given sector of space by means of respectively slewing-swing devices, switch of the transceiver paths of channels A and B, an extractor, a technological display and a recording device.
The disadvantage of RP-RPM RP-5M is the use of mirror antennas with mechanical uniform scanning of the field of view and rotation of the antennas to a predetermined landing direction, which reduces the reliability indicators of PRLs and does not allow for a quasi-random survey of controlled airspace, which provides an aircraft tracking mode with a shortened information update period. In addition, the PRL uses the traditional method of detecting and measuring the coordinates of the aircraft along the envelope of the packet of echo signals sequentially received from the aircraft within the monotonously scanning antenna beam, which leads to errors in the measurement of coordinates during fluctuations or the disappearance of individual pulses of the packet and does not allow to reduce the time required to detect and measure the parameters of the position and movement of the aircraft.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the reliability of operation, speed of observation, energy and accuracy characteristics of the PRL.
This goal is achieved by replacing in the prototype mechanically movable reflector antennas with the corresponding rotary support devices with two stationary passive monopulse course ARs oriented to opposite landing directions, one passive monopulse glide path AR installed on a given landing direction by corresponding rotation in a horizontal plane, and introducing operational quasi-random airspace mode due to the use of frequency scanning monopulse processing of reflected radar echo signals.

The heading antenna, an additional heading antenna and a glide path antenna each contain one transmitting antenna and two identical receiving antennas, which provide the implementation of an amplitude monopulse method for detecting and estimating aircraft coordinates.
Heading antennas and glide paths oriented in opposite directions of landing are stationary during viewing, each of the receiving and transmitting antennas included in the heading and glide path antennas is made in the form of an antenna array, the vibrators of which are connected to a decelerating waveguide line having one feeding end and that implements uniform periodic or quasi-random scanning of the antenna beam within the field of view by correspondingly changing the carrier frequency of the signals.

In general, the introduction of an additional fixed heading antenna, an additional extractor, switches 1-4, control devices and interfaces of channels A and B, as well as a technological control panel allows to increase the reliability of operation, the speed of observation, as well as the energy and accuracy characteristics of the PRL.
The work of the proposed landing radar is as follows.
The RLP operation is based on the use of two independent identical transceiver channels A and B, each of which provides the implementation of an algorithm of amplitude monopulse measurement of aircraft coordinates. In the course of regular work, in order to achieve the maximum energy potential in RLP, both transmitters A and B are simultaneously used, as well as a receiver, a signal processor and an extractor of one of the receiving channels A or B, each of the receiving channels being four-channel and simultaneously processing the radar signals, coming from outputs 1 and 2 of the course antenna or an additional course antenna and from outputs 1 and 2 of the glide path antenna.
Each of the course and glide path antennas consists of one transmit antenna and two receive antennas. The input of the transmitting antenna is the input of the course and glide path antennas, and the outputs of the receiving antennas are the outputs of 1 and 2 antennas.
Using switch 1, the transmitter A is connected to the input of one of the course antennas oriented to the chosen landing direction, and the transmitter B to the glide path antenna or vice versa. In the event of failure of one of the transmitters, this transmitter is turned off, and the PRL switches to the standby economic mode of operation with only one operational transmitter during the repair of a faulty transmitter. To do this, using switch 1, the output of a working transmitter is connected simultaneously to the inputs of a working course antenna and glide path antenna.
At the outputs 5 of the signal processors A and B, high-frequency sounding pulses (GI) of a low power level are generated, which are respectively supplied to the inputs 1 and 2 of the switch 2. The outputs 1 and 2 of the switch 2 receive one of the input GI, which then goes to the outputs the inputs of transmitters A and B, respectively. Thus, switch 2 provides simultaneous operation of transmitters A and B.
In PRL, heading and glide path antennas have orthogonal polarization properties: the heading antenna and an additional heading antenna are horizontally polarized, and the glide path antenna is vertically polarized. Due to this, the reflected radar signals simultaneously received via the course and glide path channels in the PRL will have an energy polarization isolation. This ensures the practical absence of mutual interference between the directional and glide path channels while operating the course antennas and the glide path to emit and receive reflected signals at close or even equal carrier frequencies.
Using the heading antenna for one landing direction or an additional heading antenna for the opposite landing direction and the glide path antenna installed in the given landing direction using the glide track rotary device, a simultaneous sector view of the space is performed in the azimuthal (horizontal) and elevation (vertical) planes, respectively centered at the location of the PRL along the runway of the aerodrome.
The review of the space, unlike the prototype, is carried out not using the mechanical uniform cyclic movement of the course and glide path antennas within the given sectors, but using fixed antennas, which increases the operational reliability of the antennas and PRL as a whole.
The movement of the antenna beam in space with fixed antennas is ensured by implementing the frequency scanning algorithm by discrete changing the carrier frequency of the probe pulses and correspondingly changing the frequency of the receiver oscillators according to a certain periodic (with a uniform view) or quasi-random (when searching for the aircraft in the direction of their most likely occurrence or accompanied by law.
[9]The maximum signal emitted by the antenna depends on the phase shift φ between the vibrators of the transmitting antenna and corresponds to the direction α o satisfying the condition [9]
где b - расстояние между вибраторами антенны; λ - длина волны излучаемых сигналов (λ=c/ƒ, где с - скорость распространения электромагнитных волн в воздушном пространстве, ƒ - частота),where b is the distance between the antenna vibrators; λ is the wavelength of the emitted signals (λ = c / ƒ, where c is the propagation velocity of electromagnetic waves in airspace, ƒ is the frequency),
так как сигналы, излучаемые в этом направлении отдельными вибраторами, будут суммироваться в фазе и создадут максимальную напряженность электромагнитного поля.since the signals emitted in this direction by individual vibrators will be summed in phase and will create maximum electromagnetic field strength.
Similarly, the received oscillations will create in this direction the maximum intensity of the input radar signal reflected from airborne objects at the output of the receiving antenna.
The antennas use the method of electric frequency scanning of the antenna beam by tuning the frequency ƒ of the signal and feeding the vibrators of the antenna array from the decelerating waveguide line from one end. The phase incursion from the vibrator to the vibrator is determined by the length L of the length of the supply slow waveguide between adjacent vibrators
где λв - длина волны, распространяющейся в замедляющей волноводной линии (λв=cв/ƒ, где св - скорость распространения электромагнитных волн в волноводной линии).where λ in is the wavelength propagating in the decelerating waveguide line (λ in = c in / ƒ, where c in is the propagation velocity of electromagnetic waves in the waveguide line).
When probing pulses are emitted due to a change in the frequency of the transmitter, λ in and φ change according to (2), due to which the beam is scanned along the angle α o taking into account (1) in accordance with the formula
Frequency scanning by frequency hopping provides the possibility, in accordance with (1) - (3), to almost instantly change the direction of the maximum antenna pattern in the scanning plane and remain in this direction for an arbitrary time. Such a regime of quasi-random review makes it possible to increase the efficiency of observation, as well as the energy potential and, accordingly, the accuracy characteristics of the PRL as compared to the cyclic uniform review mode.
[9]In a uniform review with a period of T about, the effective number of integrable pulses determining the energy potential of the PRL depends on the angular velocity of the antenna beam Ω within the field of view Δα, the effective radiation pattern width θ and the repetition frequency F n of the probing PRL pulses [9]
In a quasi-random survey, the effective number of integrable pulses of a coherent-pulse PRL is determined by the survey period and a given maximum number of aircraft m, which must be detected within the field of view and taken for tracking
The gain of the quasi-random viewing mode with respect to a uniform viewing in the effective number of integrable pulses taking into account (4) and (5) is determined by the expression
With the standard values of the parameters included in expression (5), m = 10, Δα = 35 degrees and θ = 1.2 degrees (for the azimuthal scanning plane), from the last expression we get N к / N р = ~ 6. Therefore, with such organization of the quasi-random survey mode, the energy potential of the PRL increases by ~ 6 times.
Thus, the transition to a quasi-random viewing mode allows, depending on a given number of serviced aircraft, to obtain a significant gain in the effective number of integrable pulses and, accordingly, in the energy potential of the PRL.
An increase in the energy potential makes it possible to improve the accuracy characteristics of the PRL, depending on the ratio A of the amplitude of the signal pulse of duration τ to the rms value of the noise and the number N to :
[9]- the potential accuracy of the range measurement, determined by the value of the potential standard error of the range measurement [9]
[9]- the potential accuracy of measuring the angular coordinates, determined by the value of the potential mean square error of measuring the angle [9]
As follows from expressions (6) and (7), the increase in the effective number of integrable pulses N k achieved in the quasi-random mode of the PRL review provides a decrease in the values of σ d and σ y , that is, increases the accuracy characteristics of the PRL.
The generation of probe pulses, the magnitude of the carrier frequency of which is set depending on the desired direction α about the radiation and reception of reflected radar signals, is performed in the high-frequency driver of one of the selected signal processors A or B. Using switch 2, the high-frequency probe pulses are sent to the inputs of the transmitters A and B, where they are amplified by power. The output pulse signals of the transmitters through the switch 1 are sent to the inputs of the course antennas and glide paths for radiation into space.
Radar signals resulting from the reflection of probe pulses from aircraft and other objects, through the working heading antenna and glide path antenna, respectively enter switch 3 and switch 4. From the output of switch 3, heading signals, and from the output of switch 4, glide path signals go to the corresponding inputs of the receiver A, if channel A is working, or to the inputs of receiver B, if channel B is selected for operation. The output signals of the receiver at an intermediate frequency are fed to the signal processor, where I analog-to-digital conversion, coherent inter-period frequency filtering against the background of noise and passive interference, the detection procedure is performed according to the Neumann-Pearson criterion, which provides the maximum probability of correct detection of aircraft with a fixed probability of false alarms by noise and residual passive interference, temporary weighted processing, as well as the formation of rafts and the estimation of spherical coordinates (range, azimuth and elevation) of the aircraft.
In channels A and B, a receiver, a signal processor, an extractor, and a control and interface device are combined into information processing units A and B, forming duplicated equipment for receiving and processing signals from the main and backup channels.
На выходах 1-4 ПРЛ обеспечивается формирование дублированных каналов передачи данных на выносной командный диспетчерский пункт (КДП) управления воздушным движением в виде широкополосных линий передачи информации (Выходы 1 и 3) и узкополосных линий передачи данных (Выходы 2 и 4).At the outputs 1-4 of the RLP, the formation of duplicated data transmission channels to the remote command air traffic control command and control center (DAC) in the form of broadband data transmission lines (Outputs 1 and 3) and narrow-band data transmission lines (Outputs 2 and 4) is provided.
The transition to work with one channel of equipment A or B in case of failure of the equipment of the other channel can be done automatically or manually from the control panel of the PRL or from the dispatcher’s workstation on the control panel, depending on the state and mode of operation of the PRL.
A prototype of the PRL was developed and manufactured, its factory and proving ground tests were successfully conducted. Preparing to launch mass production of PRL.
The effectiveness of the PRL is confirmed by the positive results of proving ground testing of the prototype, which showed that the construction of the PRL on the basis of low-cost passive fixed antenna arrays with uniform and quasi-random frequency scanning of the antenna beam, providing for monopulse processing of reflected radar signals, can improve the reliability of operation, the speed of observation, energy and accuracy characteristics of PRL.
