Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the production of wear-resistant coatings, can be used in machine-building and mining industries, in tool and repair industries for producing tool coatings, in particular for producing wear-resistant coatings for cutting tools.
Known multilayer wear-resistant coating according to the patent of the Russian Federation for the invention No. 2061090, C23C 14/32, 1996, consisting of successive layers of zirconium nitride, composite titanium-zirconium nitride and titanium nitride. To increase adhesion between the tool surface and the coating, a zirconium layer is additionally applied to the tool surface before the coating layers are deposited. The hardness of the zirconium layer is insufficient for the cutting tool to operate in intermittent mode under shock loads.
In the method for applying composite coatings according to the patent of the Russian Federation No. 2146724, C23C 14/06, 2000, including electric arc sputtering of the cathode target, the surface of the products is cleaned and activated by plasma ions of a non-self-sustaining arc discharge before coating. The disadvantage is the low quality of the preliminary surface cleaning, leading to possible coating defects, the need for special use of a plasma generator to create plasma from a plasma gas for burning a non-self-sustaining arc discharge.
Known cutting tool with a multilayer wear-resistant ion-plasma coating (RF patent for the invention No. 2270270, C23C 14/06, 2006). The lower and upper layers of the coating are made of titanium nitride and zirconium, and the intermediate layer is made of titanium nitride. The coating is applied by vacuum arc evaporators. The disadvantage is the lack of a buffer layer having properties different from the properties of the intermediate layer of titanium nitride, preventing its cracking due to a certain shock absorption in the intermittent cutting mode. In addition, the partially ordered structure of the layers obtained by vacuum-arc evaporators, and the low adhesion between the tool and the lower layer reduces the wear resistance of the coating.
As the closest analogue, the method of obtaining a wear-resistant coating for a cutting tool according to the patent of the Russian Federation for invention No. 2266350, С23С 14/06, 2005, including vacuum-plasma deposition of a multilayer coating in a reaction gas medium, was selected. The lower layer is coated with a titanium zirconium nitride TiZrN layer using two composite Ti-Zr cathodes and a titanium alloy cathode, the intermediate layer is coated with a TiZrN titanium-zirconium nitride layer using two composite Ti-Zr cathodes, and the upper layer is coated with a titanium-zirconium nitride TiZrN c layer using one composite Ti-Zr cathode and a titanium alloy cathode. The use of the same materials in different ratios in different ratios does not exclude the likelihood of crack formation and propagation due to the similarity of the properties of neighboring layers. The layers are obtained by a vacuum-arc evaporator and are characterized by a partially ordered structure, which affects the hardness of the resulting coating and causes its insufficient wear resistance. Low adhesion between the surface of the tool and the lower layer of titanium-zirconium nitride also reduces the reliability of the coating.
The technical task of the proposed technical solution is to increase the reliability of the resulting coating.
The technical result is to increase the wear resistance of the coating. The technical result is ensured by the fact that in the method of obtaining a wear-resistant coating, including surface cleaning and vacuum-plasma deposition of a multilayer coating using reaction gas, according to the invention, the tool is placed in a vacuum chamber of the installation equipped with magnetrons, electric arc evaporators, a heater, and the tool surface is cleaned in three stage, in the first - in a glow discharge during non-contact heating of the instrument surface with a heater to 100 ° C, in the second - in a plasma magnet of the first discharge, ion cleaning is carried out by an electric arc evaporator in an inert gas medium, heating the surface of the instrument to 300-350 ° C, then the lower layer of titanium is applied by magnetron sputtering of a titanium target, alternating layers of titanium nitride and zirconium nitride are applied in a gas mixture of inert and reaction gases, titanium nitride layers are obtained by magnetron sputtering of a titanium target, zirconium nitride layers are obtained by electric arc evaporation of a zirconium cathode, an upper layer of titanium and zirconium nitride is deposited simultaneously by conducting magnetron sputtering of a titanium target and electric arc evaporation of a zirconium cathode in a gas mixture of inert and reaction gases.
The technical result is achieved due to the fact that the tool is placed in a vacuum chamber of the installation, equipped with magnetrons, electric arc evaporators, heater, which allows the process of obtaining coatings continuously, without removing the tool from the installation, without exposing the freshly formed particles of the obtained layers to the environment, during which the formation of compounds that degrade the properties of the coating. Carrying out cleaning of the tool surface in three stages, simultaneously conducting soft cleaning of the surface in a glow discharge and non-contact heating thereof provide highly effective micro-cleaning of the tool surface at temperatures lower than the tempering temperature of the tool material, in particular high-speed steel. In the cleaning process in this way, in addition to the micro-cleaning itself, the surface of the tool is activated before the deposition process, thereby increasing the adhesive strength of the coating on the surface of the tool without reducing the strength properties of the tool itself. Application of a titanium layer to the cleaned tool surface, which has significant crystallochemical compatibility with the subsequent nitride-titanium coating layer and the tool material, reduces stresses at their interface and increases adhesion between them. Layers of titanium nitride are obtained by magnetron sputtering using a titanium target, which allows to obtain nanostructured layers with high hardness while maintaining a relatively high viscosity. The structure of these layers allows for their sufficient strength under intermittent cutting. Zirconium nitride layers are obtained by electric arc evaporation of the zirconium cathode, as a result of which X-ray amorphous layers with a partially ordered structure are formed, which have lower microhardness compared to titanium nitride layers. Zirconium nitride layers are buffer layers. The alternation of layers with different structure and properties allows to increase the crack resistance of the coating due to the separation of functions between the layers. The upper layer of titanium nitride and zirconium is obtained by simultaneous magnetron sputtering of a titanium target and electric arc evaporation from a zirconium cathode, while zirconium forms a stable surface oxide that stabilizes the titanium nitride monocell. This layer due to structural features resulting from the simultaneous combined use of magnetrons and arc evaporators, has a high microhardness and a low coefficient of friction paired with the processed material, which reduces the intensity of cracking.
A method of obtaining a wear-resistant coating is as follows. The vacuum chamber of an automated installation of URM contains two electric arc evaporators with zirconium cathodes, four magnetrons with titanium targets and a resistive heater. The cutting tool is mounted on a rotary device in a vacuum chamber, the chamber is pumped out, a resistive heater is turned on, adsorbed moisture evaporates from the chamber walls and the tool is preheated. The first stage of cleaning the surface of the tool is carried out. When the resistive heater is turned on, a constant bias voltage is applied to the tool, as a result of which an inhomogeneous electric field arises and a glow discharge is excited. To ignite and maintain a glow discharge, argon is supplied. The cleaning process in a glow discharge is carried out at a pressure in the vacuum chamber of 1.2-1.4 Pa for 20 minutes. The tool is heated over the entire cross section to a temperature of 100 ° C to activate the hardened surface, to prevent temperature differences across the cross section of the tool and the occurrence of stresses between the tool surface and the first coating layer. Temperature control is carried out using a pyrometer. A second purification step is carried out in a magnetron discharge plasma. A constant voltage is applied between the target of the magnetron atomizer and the anode, an inhomogeneous electric field arises and a glow discharge is excited. The pressure regulation in the chamber of 0.8-1.2 Pa produce argon supply. Apply voltage to the magnetron and carry out the cleaning process for 5 minutes. The third stage of cleaning the surface of the cutting tool is carried out - ion cleaning by an electric arc evaporator in an inert gas environment. Turn off the magnetron atomizer. A negative voltage is applied to the rotary device with the tool, one electric arc evaporator is turned on, a pressure in the chamber of 0.01 Pa is created in an argon medium and ion cleaning and heating of the tool to a temperature of 300 ° C for 5 minutes are performed. Then a pressure of 0.8-1.1 Pa is created in the vacuum chamber, the high voltage is removed from the tool, the electric arc evaporator is turned off, the reference voltage is applied to the tool, and the voltage to the magnetron. Within 2 minutes, the lower layer is deposited by magnetron sputtering of titanium, which is the target material of the magnetron. Alternating layers of titanium nitride and zirconium nitride are applied in a gas mixture of inert and reaction gases. Argon is used as an inert gas, and nitrogen is used as a reaction gas. Layers of titanium nitride are obtained by magnetron sputtering of a titanium target from pure titanium grade VT-1-00. A stream of metal plasma from titanium, consisting of ions and nanoparticles, is formed during the bombardment of a titanium target with inert gas ions and is directed from the target to the surface of the cutting tool in a nitrogen gas environment. Particularly high purity argon is used as an inert gas. Argon ions are formed in the plasma of an abnormal glow discharge excited in crossed electric and magnetic fields. The deposition of a layer of titanium nitride is carried out at a pressure of 0.8-1.1 Pa for 12 minutes at a ratio of inert and reaction gases of 60/40. Magnetron sputtering forms a nanostructured titanium nitride layer with nanocrystallites, the diameter of which does not exceed 10 nm. This layer structure provides its increased hardness and strength under the action of intermittent cutting loads. Layers of zirconium nitride are obtained by evaporation of the zirconium cathodes of electric arc evaporators in a gas mixture of nitrogen and argon at a pressure of 0.6-1.2 Pa, for 8 minutes. This layer is characterized by the presence of X-ray amorphous and partially textured phases. When alternating layers of titanium nitride and zirconium nitride, the principle of coating formation with a gradient of structure and properties and, as a result, with the separation of functions between the layers is realized. A nanometric multilayer coating is a thin nanocomposite film consisting of nanostructured layers of titanium nitride and X-ray amorphous layers of zirconium nitride. The layered structure of this film provides its high crack resistance. The upper layer of titanium nitride and zirconium is applied while operating in the deposition mode of magnetrons and arc evaporators in a gas mixture of argon and nitrogen, at a pressure of 1.0-1.2 Pa, for 10 minutes. With the simultaneous deposition of nitrides by the combined method, a layer with microstructural hardening is obtained, using it as the upper layer significantly increases the efficiency of the cutting tool by reducing heat generation on its contact surface. The decrease in heat generation occurs due to a decrease in the coefficient of friction paired with the processed material by increasing the microhardness of the layer to 36 GPa.
Thus, the claimed invention can significantly increase the wear resistance of the cutting tool.
