Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of electroplating, in particular to electrolytic deposition of cadmium-chromium alloy coatings.
[12-14].In the literature there is no information on the electrodeposition of a cadmium-chromium alloy. There is information on the electrodeposition of coatings with cadmium [1-10] and cadmium-nickel alloys [11], cadmium-tin, cadmium-lead [3] and cadmium-titanium [12-14].
[3, 12-14].However, the above coatings do not possess the necessary corrosion resistance or hardness when working in a humid atmosphere, or toxic cyanide electrolytes are used in their preparation [3, 12-14].
The task to which the claimed technical solution is directed is to obtain coatings with improved properties and replace environmentally hazardous potassium cyanide.
When carrying out the invention, the task is solved by achieving a technical result, which consists in increasing the conductivity of the solution, increasing corrosion resistance, expanding the range of working current densities and electrolyte stability.
The specified technical result is achieved in that the electrolyte for the electrodeposition of cadmium-iron alloy coatings contains chromium (III) sulfate, sodium sulfate, cadmium sulfate, sodium oxalate, sodium formate, 1,4-butanediol and water in the following ratio of components: cadmium sulfate - 18-22 g / l; chromium (III) sulfate - 18-22 g / l; sodium sulfate - 114-170 g / l; sodium oxalate - 18-20 g / l; sodium formate - 18-20 g / l; 1,4-butanediol - 0.8-1.0 cm 3 / dm 3 ; water - to the working volume.
The deposition process is recommended to be carried out at a pH of 1.9-2.3, a cathode current density of 2.3-2.7 A / dm 2 at a temperature of 20-25 ° C, with continuous mixing of the electrolyte using platinum anodes.
The electrolyte is prepared as follows.
The required amount of sodium oxalate is dissolved in 1 / 3-1 / 4 of the volume of distilled water necessary for the preparation of the electrolyte.
In certain portions of water constituting at 1/4 part of the necessary amount for the preparation of an electrolyte dissolved modifications required number of green chromium sulfate, cadmium sulfate and sodium formate. Then, the prepared solutions of cadmium and chromium sulfates are added to the prepared solution of sodium oxalate. To the resulting mixture was added the prepared sodium formate solution, the required amount of sodium sulfate, 1,4-butanediol, and the volume of the electrolyte was adjusted to the working volume with distilled water.
The sodium oxalate used in the electrolyte forms, with cadmium, and especially with chromium, medium-strength complexes and thereby prevents hydrolysis of salts. When using a ligand that forms a very strong complex (trilon B) with chromium (III), chromium is not reduced to metal.
Sodium formate forms a buffer solution that maintains a constant pH in the cathode layer.
The addition of sodium sulfate can increase the conductivity of the solution, and hence its performance.
A surface-active, non-ionic substance, 1,4-butanediol, adsorbed on the cathode, inhibits the process of electroreduction of metal ions, while improving the wettability of the precipitate, which leads to the formation of fine-grained precipitates and increase the uniformity of the distribution of metal on the surface of the cathode.
Specific examples illustrating the use of the invention are shown in the table.
Using the proposed electrolyte allows you to precipitate silver, semi-shiny, dense, fine-grained, well adhered to the substrate coating.
80-85%.The microhardness of the coating was 80-85 MPa, and the current efficiency was 80-85%.
Cd-Pb [3].The corrosion rate of the coating obtained from the proposed electrolyte is 20-25% lower than that for the coatings Cd-Sn and Cd-Pb [3].
The use of this electrolyte precipitates fine-grained, semi-gloss, corrosion-resistant coatings that can withstand bending at an angle of 45 ° without breaking and peeling from the substrate.
After passing 400-600 A · h / m 3 it is necessary to adjust the electrolyte with the addition of substances that make up the electrolyte.
