Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to gray cast iron with lamellar graphite used in friction units.
Known cast iron brand ASF-1 (GOST 1585-85), containing, by weight.

The disadvantages of this cast iron are a significant difference in structure and properties in castings of different sections and, in many cases, insufficient wear resistance (especially under friction conditions on heat-treated steel at elevated pressures).
Closest to the proposed composition and properties is cast iron [1] containing, by weight.

Carbon 3.4-3.8

Iron Else
The increased contents of copper and chromium and the microalloying of cast iron with aluminum, calcium and titanium increase the strength properties and wear resistance of cast iron, but at the same time, the increased amount of carbides in the structure and unstable values of hardness worsen the machinability of cast iron, which makes it difficult to manufacture parts. Another disadvantage of cast iron is a significant amount of ferrite in the structure (due to the increased silicon content), especially when the casting wall thickness is more than 30 mm. The heterogeneity of the structure in different sections of castings with the presence of structurally free sections of ferrite and carbide inclusions in it leads to an increase in the friction coefficient under conditions of high pressures.
The invention is aimed at stabilizing the hardness values of cast iron in castings of various sections and reducing the friction coefficient for working conditions with a mating part made of heat-treated steel at increased specific loads by increasing the stability of the pearlite structure.
This is achieved by the fact that cast iron containing carbon, silicon manganese, chromium, copper, aluminum, calcium and titanium additionally contains the word in the following ratio of components, wt.

Iron Else
Sulfur (up to 0.06%) and phosphorus (up to 0.1%) may be present as impurities in cast iron.
The composition of cast iron is selected based on the following considerations.
Compared with the prototype, the silicon content is reduced. Since silicon is the main ferritizing element, a decrease in its amount leads to stabilization of the pearlite structure. If the silicon content exceeds 2.58%, sections of ferrite appear in the structure of cast iron, which negatively affects the wear resistance of cast iron and the friction coefficient. If the silicon content is less than 1.5%, a significant amount of cementite appears in the structure of cast iron (especially in thin-walled castings), which sharply affects the machinability of cast iron by cutting.
The composition of cast iron increased the upper limit of the copper content (up to 3.8%), which provides not only perlitization of the structure, but also the formation of a significant number of inclusions of the copper phase, which provide a decrease in the friction coefficient. An increase in copper content in excess of 3.8% is impractical because at the same time, the cost of cast iron increases without a noticeable increase in properties. The copper content of cast iron of less than 1.65% does not provide complete perlitization of the structure in the formation of the copper phase, especially when the silicon content is at the upper limit, resulting in significantly reduced properties of cast iron.
Compared to the prototype, the titanium content is reduced, since its role in the composition is changed. Titanium in the form of ferrotitanium is introduced into molten iron as a modifier and should ensure the formation of a fine-grained structure in the absence of free cementite. This role of titanium is provided with its residual content within the claimed limits. When the titanium content is less than 0.02%, its modifying effect is not enhanced, but the cost of cast iron increases.
The additional introduction of tin into the composition of cast iron is due to its strong perlitizing effect, especially in combination with copper and silicon. Minimum amounts of tin (0.005%) are sufficient with an increased copper content (3.0-3.8%) and average silicon contents (about 2%); the upper limit of the tin content (006%) is necessary for minimal amounts of copper (1.60-2.0%) and for castings of large cross sections (30 mm or more). The use of large amounts of tin is not economically feasible due to its very high cost.
The content of the remaining components of the alloy corresponds to the composition of the prototype.
Cast iron was smelted in an induction crucible furnace with an acid lining on a charge consisting of carbon steel waste, pig iron, ferroalloys (ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, ferrochrome), waste electrical copper and aluminum. Ferroalloys were introduced into the melt at 1350-1380 o C, after their melting introduced copper and aluminum. Aluminum was partially used as part of a complex modifier together with silicocalcium, ferrotitanium and tin. The modification was carried out when the metal was poured from the furnace into the casting ladle.
Liquid cast iron was poured into dry sand and clay forms. Cylindrical samples were cast in two sizes: with a diameter of 30 mm and a length of 300 mm, a diameter of 100 mm and a height of 180 mm. Samples were processed on a
The chemical compositions of the alloys and the results of their tests are given respectively in table. 1 and 2 in comparison with the prototype.
It can be seen that the cast iron of the proposed composition (alloys 1-4) differs from the prototype in the combination of a more stable pearlite structure, stabilized in a narrow range of hardness values and low values of the friction coefficient and wear rate, and this is typical for castings of different sections. Comparison with bronze BROTSS 5-5-5 shows that at elevated pressures, the proposed cast iron in terms of friction coefficient is not inferior to bronze, and significantly exceeds it in terms of wear resistance. This allows us to recommend this cast iron as a full-fledged substitute for bronze for parts operating in friction units at high specific loads.
From the above table. Figures 1 and 2 also show that when the content of components in cast iron (
