Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of wastewater treatment and specifically to the creation of technological equipment for carrying out adsorption-desorption processes in chemical and other industries, mainly for the separation of organic impurities from industrial wastewater.
A known installation [1] for wastewater treatment of galvanic production, which is a filter with adsorbent from activated carbon with electrodes, on which an electric potential of + 0.1-1.0 V is applied, which increases the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent. The installation [1] does not provide equipment for regeneration of the adsorbent after saturation, and this problem, especially at high productivity of treatment facilities, can adversely affect the economic performance of the installation.
A known installation [2] of wastewater treatment with activated carbon, modified 4-7% of transition metal oxides. The installation is equipped with a piping system for supplying regenerating gases to the adsorbent layer and devices for maintaining a given temperature. To regenerate the adsorbent after it is saturated, an oxygen-free gas with a temperature of 300-350 o C is passed through activated carbon, then a coolant gas containing 4-6 vol. oxygen, and the exhaust gases after displacement with air are passed through expanded clay. The installation provides a high degree of regeneration of the adsorbent, however, it uses sophisticated and energy-intensive equipment.
A known installation [3] in which the processes of adsorption and regeneration of the adsorbent are carried out at potentials from -1.3 to +1.3 V, corresponding to different adsorption capacity of the adsorbent. Installation [3] includes a cylindrical body with a fixed adsorbent covered by a waterproof polyelectrolyte membrane, and electrodes, one of which is installed between the body and the membrane, and the other in the upper part of the body on the adsorbent layer. The voltage at the electrodes is regulated relative to the control sensor installed in the upper part of the housing. The installation provides a sufficiently high degree of purification and has a simple adsorbent regeneration system. The disadvantage of this installation is the high energy intensity and uneven purification of the water stream by volume of the adsorption charge due to the fact that the issue of the uniform distribution of potentials in the adsorption charge is not resolved in the installation. This leads to a loss of adsorption capacity and a decrease in the degree of purification of the treated streams.
The objective of the invention is to develop a device with increased stability and efficiency of purification of water flows, including petroleum products and other organic pollutants.
The problem is solved as follows.
The device comprises a housing with a coaxially located closed membrane permeable to water, for example, a heteromembrane, inside which an adsorbent layer is placed, one of the working electrodes is placed between the membrane and the device’s body directly on the inner surface of the housing and is separated from it by insulating spacers, the other electrode is made of elements, for example, graphite plates connected in series by electrically conductive bonds and evenly distributed in the adsorbent layer; the control sensor, made in the form of a reference electrode, is placed on the surface of the adsorption layer, while the working electrodes are directly connected, and the control sensor is connected to an adjustable voltage source through the power control unit, and the components removal pipe and the cavity between the housing wall and the membrane are connected through a locking device .
The novelty of the invention lies in the location of the electrodes, their structural design, as well as in the use of permeable heteromembranes in conjunction with the structural design of the system of binding pipelines.
A different constructive solution to the shape and arrangement of the electrodes makes it possible to increase the completeness of using the useful properties of the adsorbent in the cleaning cycle of contaminated streams and completely restore the useful properties of the adsorbent in the regeneration process by creating the equipotentiality of the inner surface of the adsorbent in duty cycles. At the same time, the proposed design changes allow us to restore the properties of the separation membrane during the regeneration process, which helps to reduce energy costs for the process. In FIG. 1 shows the technological scheme of the installation.
The installation includes a
Adsorption mode
The locking devices 18,19,24 are in the open position, the remaining locking devices are in the closed position. The voltage corresponding to the potential of the maximum adsorbent capacity is set on the control unit of the adjustable voltage source. Through the pipeline for supplying purified water 14 through the nozzle 13, the treated water is supplied to the adsorbent layer and fills the auxiliary electrode chamber through a permeable membrane. Excess water through the bypass pipe is discharged into the concentrate discharge pipe 17. After the unit is completely filled, the shut-off device closes. The cleaned stream continues to enter the installation through pipeline 14 and nozzle 13, passes through the thickness of the adsorption charge, and through nozzle 12 t,
Adsorbent Regeneration Mode
To put the unit into regeneration mode, close the shut-off devices 18 and 19 and open 20 and 21. Through the wash water pipe 16 through the nozzle 12, the washing water is fed into the installation, which, passing through the adsorbent layer, is removed through the nozzle 13 and the pipe 17. For adsorbent regeneration The
Example. Using the proposed installation was subjected to purification of water containing 50 mg / l of petroleum products (oil). Operating voltages are 2.9-3.2 V. The adsorption process is carried out until a breakthrough through the adsorption layer of oil products with a concentration of more than 0.05 mg / l. Adsorbent regeneration was carried out at an adsorption layer potential of -1.5 V in purified water. The volume of water to be purified before the breakthrough of the maximum permissible concentration was 600-750 volumes of the adsorption zone of the installation; the consumption of purified water for regeneration was 7-10 volumes of the adsorption zone.
In FIG. Figure 2 shows the results of a relative change in the adsorption capacity during cycling (curve 1) in comparison with similar characteristics of the installation [3] (curve 2). From the above data it follows that for 50 cycles of operation of the proposed installation, the loading capacity is reduced by 20-25% of the original value against 80% of the loss of capacity for 5 cycles of operation of a similar installation [3]
At the same time, the voltage drop was measured at the separation membrane of the installation. The measurement results are presented in the table.
1. The latter corresponds to a reduction in energy consumption for adsorption-desorption processes by 6-9% compared with the installation [3]
The above results show that the use of the entire combination of features in the device allows increasing the size of the functioning working capacity of the adsorption layer due to the uniform distribution of potential over the working volume of the adsorbent, stabilizing (increasing reliability) the operation of the installation, increasing the duration of its operation until the resource is depleted, or increasing the degree of purification of the processed streams. The use of permeable heterogeneous membranes in conjunction with the signs of the network strapping of the installation allows the membrane to be regenerated in the adsorbent regeneration mode, to reduce the effect of its concentration depolarization and, as a result, to obtain a 6–9% reduction in energy consumption.
