The invention relates to the separation of materials by density in magnetic fluids and can be used in mining and other industries, in particular, in the processing of ores and recyclables from alloys of non-ferrous and ferrous metals. More precisely, the invention relates to the design of devices intended for separating materials by density in magnetic fluids and called magnetogravitational separators.
Mandatory elements of any magnetogravitational separator are a chamber with magnetic fluid located in the pole gap of the magnet, and loading and unloading devices.
The camera can be positioned horizontally or obliquely, equipped with vibrators or not.
Loading devices of magnetogravitational separators, as a rule, are a container (feeder) with an outlet located above the mirror of magnetic fluid or immersed in it. The latter option is more preferable when the material to be separated is introduced directly into the thickness of the separating medium (magnetic fluid). When the separation chamber is inclined, the feeder is located at its upper end (ed. St. USSR N 1184565, 1985 or N 1719085, 1990), while horizontal in the middle part of the chamber (ed. St. USSR N 1719086, 1990).
Download shared material in known separators occurs under the influence of its own weight. At the same time, a buoyant force acting in the volume of the magnetic fluid prevents its movement. In addition to resistance to the supply of material, there is also its compression, undesirable association of particles into aggregates, which are difficult to stratify and quickly float to the surface of a magnetic fluid. Ultimately, this adversely affects the performance of the separators and the quality of the separation of materials.
The problem solved by the present invention is the intensification of the process of separation of materials. This problem is solved primarily by equipping the feeder with a device for the forced input of the material to be separated into the magnetic fluid, made in the form of a screw made in a special way with a mechanism for driving it into rotation. Features of the auger are that its lower part stands for the dimensions of the feeder and is equipped with a platform. The diameter of this platform exceeds the diameter of the screw, and its surface facing the feeder is made corrugated. Being immersed at the lower end in a magnetic fluid, the screw not only feeds the material to be separated, but also squeezes out the magnetic fluid, thereby eliminating the preloading of the feed material from its side. Bringing the end of the screw beyond the dimensions of the feeder provides intensive disintegration of the material at the outlet of the feeder, and equipping it with a platform allows you to create a wide front of separation of the material by scattering it from the surface of this platform. Riffles on the site contribute to this process.

14. The magnetogravity separator includes a chamber 1 with magnetic fluid 2, mounted between the pole pieces 3,4 of the magnetic system, a feeder made in the form of a container 5 with a screw installed inside 6, made with rotation, and unloading devices in the form of conveyors 7, 8 with scrapers, mounted above the surface of the magnetic fluid. The screw is equipped with a platform 9, the diameter of which exceeds the diameter of the screw, while the lower end of the screw and the platform are located below the outlet of the container. The feeder is installed in the middle of the chamber between the conveyors 7, 8. The separator has collectors 10, 11 for a light fraction 12 and a collector 13 for a heavy fraction 14.
14. Patented separator operates as follows. The source material, presented in the form of a mixture of light and heavy particles, is fed through a feeder with a screw 6 into the magnetic fluid 2. At the outlet of the feeder, the screw disintegrates the material, and the platform 9, having corrugations 15, scatters the particles with a wide front. In this case, light particles float under the action of buoyant forces in a pseudo-heavy magnetic fluid, and heavy particles sink. Light particles using conveyors 7, 8 are removed from the magnetic fluid and discharged into the collectors 10, 11, and heavy particles through the through bottom of the chamber 1 fall into the collector 14.
