Abstract
Description
The invention relates to foundry and may find application in the manufacture of shaped castings by centrifugal casting with a vertical axis of rotation, for example, from titanium and heat-resistant alloys.
Known gating system for centrifugal casting with a vertical axis of rotation [1] (mainly for castings from titanium alloys), having a central riser (round, four- or six-sided) with a divider installed in the center (or without it), radial sprue passages turning into vertical casting forms attached to them with the help of feeders and placed in a rotating container of the melting and casting plant.
Such a sprue system provides sufficient occupancy of a significant range of shaped castings. However, it does not guarantee its sufficient occupancy for castings having a thin-walled long configuration (with a ratio L / δ ≥ 50, where L is the length of the casting along the metal, δ is the predominant wall thickness of the casting).
Closest to the proposed one is the sprue system, including a riser with a shaped-type divider installed in the center in the form of radial blades paired with radial gate ways, feeders and foundry molds.
The disadvantage of this sprue system is that it has a performance limited by the conditions for casting the melt into rotation and cannot provide a filled metal flow in the horizontal part of the sprue in the direction from the center to the periphery, which increases the likelihood of pulsation of the melt flow when filling the working cavity forms. As a result, the probability of formation of such defects as castings, junctions, etc. in the castings increases.
The aim of the invention is to increase the performance of the gating system when the melt is moving horizontally from the center to the periphery, reducing casting defects and expanding the product range when casting thin-walled long castings.
The goal is achieved in that in the expanded part of the riser, volumes are isolated from each other, and the surfaces of the blades are made in the form of a curve, where the angle between the radius drawn from the center of the riser to the beginning of the pairing of the blade with the runway and the point of the blade tangent to the near axis of rotation α = 40-50 about , the angle between the same radius and the tangent to the point of the blade farthest from the axis of rotation β = 20-25 about , the pairing angle of the tapering gate with the blade between the tangent, forming the angle α, and the gate axis γ = 70 -80 about .
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the use of deaf non-communicating volumes formed by the lower expanded part of the riser and the shoulder blades eliminates the need for twisting of the metal drained into the central riser, reducing hydraulic losses in the melt flow, and the tapered gate runways connected with the vanes provide a filled flow in them metal.
Figure 1 is a diagram of the riser and the gate run associated with it, a horizontal section; in FIG. 2 diagram of the riser, gate, feeder and form, vertical section; (1 riser; 2 divider; 3 blade; 4 sprue run; 5 feeder; 6 form); figure 3 shoulder blade, cross section. A measured portion of the molten metal merges into the rotational structure through a drain flow from a crucible (not shown), which, having reached the divider, is distributed over the blind cavities of the lower part of the riser and, captured by the blades, is sent to the gateways. The filling of the mold occurs during the reverse (towards the center) melt flow.
The indicated limiting values of the reduced angles α, β, and γ are confirmed by the performed hydromodeling experiments on transparent (from plexiglass) equipment. During the experiments, the flow characteristics of the simulating fluid were measured for comparison with similar characteristics of the known design and for photometric measurements of the fluid behavior in the channels of the gate system at various stages of filling the mold using a high-speed camera. The analysis of the compared characteristics showed that the gating system costs (depending on the cross-sectional shape of the square, hexagonal, triangular, round risers) are 1.5-2.0 times less than the flow rate provided by the proposed gating system design (Table 1). High-speed photometry confirmed that the filling of the mold occurs when the cross section of the channel of the horizontal gate is completely filled. The intensity of the narrowing of the latter toward the periphery from the center was chosen based on the continuity of the flow, which depends on the melt velocity in the channels of the gate system (Table 1).
2. Based on the analysis of the experimental results, it was found that the optimal angles for the execution of the blades and the conjugation of the gate gates, provided they are full, depending on the speed, are the values given in Table 2.
The change in the angles α, β, γ depending on the rotational speed is determined by the creation of a constant flow rate of the sprue system under different pouring modes, which provides approximately the same pressure on the peripheral zones (relative to the rotation axis) of the mold, preventing its destruction (based on the ultimate strength of the shell mold equal to 5 · 10 5 Pa).
As a result, the flow characteristics (m 3 / s) of the gating system are improved, the pulsation of the melt decreases when filling the working cavities of the molds, which leads to a decrease in casting defects (by at least 10%) and the expansion of the product range.
