A method for detecting narrowband signals, which consists in receiving an analog signal, digitizing it, for which the operations of sampling, quantization and coding are sequentially performed, the cross-correlation function is calculated, the threshold value of the noise level of the digitized signal is calculated, the average value of the components is multiplied by a coefficient, the value of which are selected in the range of 3.5-4.5, compared with the calculated threshold value of the noise level, based on the results of the comparison, a decision is made about the fact of detection of the signal, characterized in that a reference signal is preliminarily formed, the parameters of which correspond to the detected signal in the absence of noise, calculated the cross-correlation function between the digitized signal and the reference signal, the threshold value of the noise level of the digitized signal is calculated by multiplying the average values of the components of the cross-correlation function by a coefficient, the value of which is chosen in the range of 3.5-4.5, the threshold value of the noise level of the digitized signal with the components of the cross-correlation function, if at least any three adjacent components of the cross-correlation function exceed the threshold value of the noise level of the digitized signal, then a decision is made about the fact of detecting the signal, and if the signal is detected, the function of the average values of the components from the cross-correlation functions, normalized on each sample, determine its maximum value, and the time value corresponding to this maximum value is determined as the time of arrival of the detected signal.
