Abstract

Acid hydrolysed protein hydrolysate for 'invitro' culture of mammal embryos contains 65-90% protein as polypeptides of 20000-70000 mol.wt. at a ptt. of 6.5-7.35. It has a pale straw yellow colour, converted into an easily water soluble hygroscopic powder, by atomisation. Bovine placenta is used for hydrolysis and this hydrolysate is used as a growth and development medium with similar action to phoetal serum of calves and of superior action to normal bovine serum or mammal albumin serum of calves.
