Abstract

10,11-di:hydro-N,N-di:methyl -5H-di:benzo-(a,d)-cyclo-heptene -5-hydroxy -5-propylamine, an intermediate cpd. for the prepn. of a psychotropic drug, is prepd. by a Grignard reaction between 10,11-di:hydro-5H-di:benzo -(a,d)-cycloheptane-5-one and 1,3-di:methyl-amino -chloro-propane. The ketone, which is not separated from its reaction mix. is obtd. in a pure state, through distillation under pronounced vacuum.
