The invention relates to a process for producing supercorundum ceramic plates, consisting in mixing 99.2% Al 2 O 3 of minimum 99.6% purity with a solution consisting of 0.2...0.4% MgO prepared from MgCl 2x 6H 2 O or Mg(NO 3) 6 H 2 O, 0.2...0.6% Cr 2 O 3 prepared from CrO 3, 2.5% polyvinyl alcoohol, 2.3% ethylene glycol and 0.15% oleic acid, at a weight ratio relative to the solution of 2 : 1, the resulting mixture being ground for 15...40 h, there resulting the slip which is atomized to a grain size of 0.15...0.25 mm, with a calcination loss of 6% and pressed, biaxially, at a unit pressure of 1000...2000 daN/cm 2, followed by subjecting the resulting plates to presintering at the temperature of 1000...1250°C and sintering at 1750...1820° C, in controlled atmosphere with a plateau of 15...40 minutes, finally there being processed mechanically without cooling.
