Abstract

This invention concerns an oil film thickness measuring and control method and installation that is used for test benches of partial radial hydrostatic bearings for the optimization of geometrical and functional parameters of hydrostatic bearings. In accordance with the invention, the method and system of measurement and adjustment of the oil film thickness use the piezoelectric effect obtained in piezoelectric cells that come in contact with an oil film of variable thickness, by approaching or moving away a bearing spindle equipped with pockets. The signals obtained are introduced in measuring and adjustment loops and as a result the thickness of the oil film is measured and adjusted.<IMAGE>
