Abstract

The appts. comprises an inclined conduit through which a heat exchange fluid flows disposed below a lens system for concentrating solar energy and above a container for liq. to be distilled. The conc. solar energy causes liq. in the container to evaporate. The resulting vapour condenses on the outside of the conduit and flows along it to the lower end from which it is discharged. The appts. is used for the distn. of sea water and is of high efficiency because a portion of the heat of condensn. of the liq. is absorbed by the heat exchange fluid in the conduit.
